Came here for something to do on a slightly rainy day. This smallish museum shows how the fishermen lived when away during fishing season and you can also visit the former home of a well-off family.
You can wander about at your own pace.
    Staff were friendly.
It's next to the aquarium and the Espolin gallery on the edge of the village.

You can find similarities to places on the other side of the world. But no one can take away from the beach the magically clean water, the soft sandy bottom and the refreshing bathGuessing that we are talking about a maximum of 15 C during the height of summer.Popular with both locals and tourists.A very popular top tour is available to see it from a helicopter perspective.

The lithographs by Kaare Espolin portray the tough, brutal life of the Norwegian cod fishermen and their families. In stark contrast to the comfortable life of the fishery owner, shown in the adjacent Storvagen museum. An eye opener into the inequality of Norway 100 years ago before becoming todays more equitable society.

We rented a car for the day off of a cruise ship and drove by this church on our way to Svolvaer. It looks impressive from the outside, it was closed when we visited so didn't get a chance to look inside, but from the sounds of the comments and pictures posted we didn't miss anything.

Stunning glassware produced on the premises. We visited on our last day in the Lofoten and bought several small items. Would've bought half the shop were it possible !
Well worth the small detour in Kabelvag.

I guess this is not a well known hike yet
Take the A-10 from svolvaer and turn left to the 816 to Henningsvaer. Before reaching Henningsvaer you will cross the first stretch of water. Right before crossing there is a small parkingspace on your right. Park here and cross the road (be carefull). Djupfjorden lies there surrounded by beautiful mountains. Just follow the path alongside the water. The path is very clear at first but becomes less clear later on. The hike is not difficult though. You can just walk alongside the fjord until the water ends. Further towards the mountains lies a lake which is connected to the fjord. This is djupfjordvatnet.
