Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This Fort is well worth a visit but is mostly overlooked. A huge palace complex which was ruled by one of the Mughal emperors, who had three wives, a Christian, a Muslim and a Hindu. This was shrewd politics at the time. The palace is beautiful and stunning. It was abandoned when the fresh water supply turned to salt. It is conveniently on the road from Agra to Jaipur. You need money for entrance and for the bus. Lots of hawkers will try to sell their wares but they are harmless, if persistent. Our guide, Sahib, was knowledge and excellent. It would be a shame not to devote a couple of hours to this gem.

Beautiful Architecture. Lotus Throne Pillar is known for its massiveness and magnificence. This single red stone pillar is constructed with a set of 36 arched-shaped and pensile brackets holding up the circular raised area from which emanated four passages.

The Diwan-i-Khas or Hall of Private Audience is the building where Akbar met with his close advisors or VIP visitors. It would accommodate probably not more than a few dozen people.
Like most of Fatehpur Sikri, it is all in red sandstone, but stands out because of the small, elegant chhatris on each of the 4 corners. In the centre inside you will see the famous Lotus Throne.

The Friday or congregational Mosque is centered around a massive open square ; highlights are the Victory Gate and the Tomb of Salim Chishti. Being an active mosque you have to remove your shoes, which forces you to walk on the fabric carpet or in the shade (the stones get burning hot). You'll find a mixture of Mughal (domes) and Hindu influences (chhatris), mostly in the omnipresent red sandstone.
It is the place where you get most hassled by very determined hawkers.

An unusual tower this one. At the bottom it is octagonal and then it becomes circular and has what look like thorns all the way up. It is big in size so stands out for miles. What it is supposed to have been is a bit of a puzzle. So it may have been a post to keep a look out for or it may have been built in memory of the Akbars favourite elephant. I have heard stranger things.

The Grand entrance to fatehpur sikri, this is for all vehicles entering this place, not much to say as the place may be during akbars time but with vehicles coming in, we can only marvel at the architecture
