It was really nice to cook such good food with simple ingredients, exactly how Italian cuisine is meant to be. Afterwards we got to enjoy the food and even got the leftovers to go so we could eat for another 2 days. We received an apron and the recipes as well so we can recreate everything at home. My Italian is so-so but my husband only speaks English but communication wasn’t a problem; Dèdalo and Otilia speak English well. We were made to feel very welcome. The class (lasting about four hours) consisted of two kinds of bruschetta that Dèdalo had made (he shared the recipes with us), a ragù that he made with us, fresh pasta that Otilia made with us, and ended with tiramisù that we made with her. Water, caffè, and wine were freely offered. My husband and I then ate our meal on their terrace that had a beautiful view.
The family was just lovely. Dèdalo’s parents were there pitching in, as were their young daughter and her cousin. It was a peek into Italian family life capped off with a delicious meal. The two additional guides were superb as well. He ran the experience flawlessly, emphasizing safety while maximizing fun. The e-bikes were in terrific condition, and easy to use even for members of our group, me included, who had never used one before. And the terrain of our tour around Pienza was breathtaking! The strong sense of family pervades everything they do. The wine is fantastic. A nice small, intimate winery. This is why you come to Tuscany. The history of the winery was absolutely amazing and so was the wine and olive oil. I am a huge fan and placed an order to be shipped back to Boston. The weather wasn't great and Erica pointed us in the direction of Arezzo for the remainder of the day and that was amazing.
