We had an enjoyable wine tasting and lunch at Soumah with friends. Soumah has an interesting range of wines although I struggled to find wines to my taste. I did enjoy some of the whites. We couldn't fault the service - very friendly and helpful staff in both the tasting room and the restaurant. For lunch we had a very tasty antipasti board. We shared 2 pizzas from an interesting non-traditional pizza selection.

The Yarra Valley [like the Mornington Peninsula] provides a dilemma for any oenophile with the plethora of cellar door options. Sensibly, three or four in one day with a good lunch, should satisfy anyone’s needs.

In its fiftieth year, Yarra Yering is a fantastic place to start in the Yarra Valley.

Sarah Crowe [James Halliday’s 2017 Winemaker of the Year] continues to enhance the highest quality fruit that the property is famous for, especially by modifying the historic use of new oak.

The display of old bottles, the welcoming fire, the quality of wines on taste, the views over the vineyard, the ambience of the tasting area and the fact it is open 7 days a week make it a great experience. All enhanced by a friendly & knowledgeable cellar door team to guide you through the range.

An understandable tasting fee will apply that is refundable against any purchases made.

We called here yesterday afternoon. The guy serving behind the bar was a lovely Gent and very chatty and friendly.
He offered his knowledge and advice and felt like an old friend.

The place is a bit rustic with lovely views over the surrounding valleys.

Medhurst , a small family owned Winery is slightly off the main “WineRoute” but so glad we visited. Shane was extremely knowledgeable and willing to spend time explaining the wines produced there and the climatic conditions. Being a smaller winery they limit the numbers inside which is so much more pleasurable. Tranquil setting with a range of great wines, particularly their Rose. Thanks Shane for a memorable tasting session.

I finally got to visit Squitchy Lane vineyard and they have delicious wines. As expected in the Yarra Valley, both whites and reds are full of interest and character. They also do an interesting , but delicious fume Blanc which I have not seen for years!
