Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Beautiful little cave with crystal clear blue water. Unique in that you visit in a little boat. The guides are very friendly and informative. Look for the eels

Found this open its first day of '24 season. Varied large models of ships through ages, lovingly made by the justifiably proud owner who shows you around his private museum. New galleon on display, having been made over the winter. A perfect combination of skill and generosity of spirit. Do visit!

Lots of parking and sunbeds set in lovely grassy area under the shade of the trees. White pebble beach great for snorkelling- bring beach shoes. Reasonably priced taverna and snack bar with a very nice waiter who takes orders from your sunbed. Downside- 5€ each lounger. The shower was free on our first visit, two days later however there was an out of order sign up but people were still using it. A short while later the money machine was reinstated (50c per use) Didn’t see anyone use it after that! Mean spirited- unusual for Greece.

Friday 1st July we visited the delightful coastal town of Sami, on the central eastern side of the Island of Kefelonia.

We walked the harbour front which is lined with a number of restaurants and tavernas.

There was a variety of boats, fishing, catamarans, holiday yachts, in all shapes and sizes, moored up in the Harbour, creating a nautical vista.

The ferries from here sail to Brindisi in Italy, Patra and Aetos in Greece.

The Statue of the Fisherman is a feature along the harbour front.

There are views across the Bay of Sami which the Kalon Orors Mountains in the background when looking towards Agia Efimia.

Spectacular views over both sides of the peninsula, to Ithaca and down over Antisamos beach. The monastery itself was closed when we visited at approx 4pm

It was a strange feeling, wandering through the streets in what was once ( not that long ago) a busy Greek village, trying to imagine what each ruin once was.

Not too small and relatively wide; less crowded than Antisamos. It is near to Sami.so whilst waiting for the bus, I had a swim here. There’s a little changing room “hut” and open air shower to wash off the sand and saltwaters.

Not very big but picturesque and peaceful, parking nearby and taverna in pretty surroundings. Walked round the lake then into Sami and back along the beach path. Lovely for early morning or evening walk.

Friday 28th June 2019. Family of 5. Top tip; if, like us yoy get there at bout 11am and have a 30 minute wait in the queue to get to the paying booth, let your group go into the shade of the shop in the exit area as they can join you later and much nearer the pay booth. It's 7 euros a head for adults for a 10-15 minute boat tour which goes around the open cave and slightly further on. If in the vicinity as we were it's worthwhile; but it's definitely not worth a special or long journey - sorry.

Friday 1st July and we were out and about sightseeing and exploring in the coastal Town of Sami on the central east coast of the Island.

We discovered these wonderful mosaics, outside a museum building on the main street near the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin and the Police Station.

There is an entrance fee of €4 to the museum, however it was free to visit the mosaics. We did not visit the museum but walked around the compound where the mosaics are sited.

These have been discovered and retrieved from public and private buildings and they depict the Roman way of life. These include scenes of Dionysios and a Roman Villa.

Information is provided about the mosaics on noticeboards around the site.
