Barony Mill
#1 of 4 Sights & Landmarks in Birsay
Great little site; the only watermill still working in Orkney.Loads of history and knowledge shared by a fiendly millman - thank you Mr. Alister.
We came away with a good stack of flour and, as the whole tour was free, a donation, historic sites such as this run with enthusiasm and passion are so well worth supporting.
Brough Of Birsay
#2 of 4 Sights & Landmarks in Birsay
Only accessible by causeway twice a day at low tide, this mini island is a fantastic site for wildlife including puffins and orcas and minke whales.
Great photos, nice walk, refreshing.Do check the tides tining at the local shop.It might be of great help ;) Otherwise, embrace the weather and enjoy the views and history!
Earl's Palace

The history of the site is fascinating.
Birsay is well away from most other sites but is well worth a visit

... the studio, you will understand how the artist feels as she paints, the colours the brushes the amazing view of land rock and sea, and transferred to the canvas but the mind and body of an artist, don't miss it.
