East Anglian Railway Museum Chappel 7.6 km away

A working heritage site based at the rural Chappel railway station, near Colchester, on the edge of Constable Country and next to one of the largest railway viaducts in Eastern England.
It is a very large site, with plenty of room for expansion, and even the stacked-up rails proved to be interesting for the kids.

Tucked away in Essex countryside a 16th century tower house full of pleasant surprises, pretty views and relaxing tea room (lovely cake).
There is an interesting museum, a place to get tea and coffee and of course you need to go up all of the stairs to the top and sample the view, which is remarkable.
