When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- Rowena MRobe, Australia17 contributionsWhat a pleasant surprise! We visited this restaurant for dinner with our friends. First time since new owners took over. Restaurant was not busy but despite the space it was warm and welcoming. Service was amazing and even picked up some awesome tips for forthcoming event at my own place, so grateful that they would share some insider tips.
Menu offered a reasonable selection of dishes that were carefully curated to offer a really enjoyable dining experience at a very reasonable price.
We also enjoyed a glass of their own Sauvignon Blanc and Shiraz with our meals which were excellent.
Will definitely be returning here for dinner or weekend lunch for not only the food and wine but the ambience, service and atmosphereWritten 5 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We found him very entertaining and he took his time and did not rush us through the tastings.Written 18 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - KaylaMelbourne, Australia762 contributionsMe and my friend did a tasting here as part of Shedfest.
It's a lovely building on a hill with fantastic views of the area, and the big windows at the front of the venue make sure you can enjoy the view wherever you are seated.
We had five wines and despite not being big red fans, we loved the sparkling tempranillo. Only note was the tasting was a little disjointed and all over the place.
We also enjoyed a cheese platter and were pleased at how generous it was with lots of cheese and biscuits, where as at most places you get tiny slithers and never enough biscuits. We just would have loved a dip or quince paste added, and featuring some more local cheese rather than generic brands like Mersey Valley would be great!
While it has a certain charm, I do think the furniture and decor could use a little updating, but I do love the wine barrels used as some of the tables.Written 9 October 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Besides Dixons Creek Estate producing wonderful wines, Mr. Miller is a great host, and a studied historian on the Yarra Valley. As he’s a good storyteller, our visit was multi-faceted.
We also tasted several excellent wines, so one MUST add “wine maker” to the list of Mr. Miller’s accomplishments.
We had the:
Dixons Creek Yarra Valley Pinot Gris ‘16 – While not a fan of this varietal, whether labeled as Pinot Gris, or Pinot Grigio, this was a very good example, and a great place to start.
Dixons Creek Yarra Valley Sauvignon Blanc ‘15 – Though New Zealand gets so much press for their Sauvignon Blanc, I prefer those that we encountered in Australia, and especially the Yarra Valley. I found Mr. Miller’s SB to be better balanced, with enough fruit to carry the acidity. While there was a bit of the common “damp alfalfa hay” note, it was not too pronounced. Closer to a lovely Bordeaux SB, than to a NZ version.
Dixons Creek Yarra Valley Chardonnay ‘16 – Well-balanced Chardonnay, with good fruit, acid and a minerality, that I enjoyed. Perhaps closer to a Chablis, without the “wet stone” notes?
Dixons Creek Yarra Valley Reserve Pinot Noir ‘16 – Nice, cherry, and strawberry notes, with a long finish for a PN.
Dixons Creek Yarra Valley Reserve Shiraz ‘14 – Lovely wine, with good body, and enough fruit to work with almost everything from heavier seafood (no cream sauces here though), to grilled beef.
Dixons Creek Yarra Valley Cabernet Sauvignon/Petite Verdot – Nice blend of two prominent Bordeaux varietals.
Dixons Creek Yarra Valley Reserve Petite Verdot ‘13, and the ‘05 – I do not see that many single varietal Petite Verdots, and these were both very good one. It was also interesting to do a side-by-side tasting, to see how the older vintage had aged – in a few words – nicely, and with elegance.
Dixons Creek Yarra Valley Quatrain ‘15 – This was Mr Miller’s “full Bordeaux blend,” and a lovely example, lacking only Malbec, to complete the “sweep.” This was, IMHO, a very age-worthy wine.
Dixons Creek Yarra Valley Keith Charles Fort (a Port-style fortified wine) – Very nice, inky and rich Port-styled wine.
What a lovely start to our Yarra Valley adventure, plus we got a great, and entertaining history lesson, in the process – plus a few puppy dog head rubs for Dusty too. Set in a beautiful area of the Yarra Valley, Dixons Creek Estate is not to be missed – whether one begins, or ends their journey there. Be sure to ask Mr. Miller about the Aboriginal Art from the Central and Western deserts and Arnhemland too, though it is difficult to miss.Written 26 August 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
