While Salem has lots of history on the witch trials, this site really focuses on the rest of the maritime history of Salem to balance your visit.
The staff at the National Historic Site do a great job of giving visitors the history of Salem's maritime past and describing what Derby Wharf was like back in the day.

After the Customs House take a walk down the pier to the Lighthouse and admire the beautiful view of the natural harbour - well worth it.
The doors were open this Halloween weekend of 2017, and it was a treat to see the interior and get a brief history provided by the National Parks representative on site.

It's a fun and kitschy site to see! It's in a small park in the city with quite a few stores around to visit.
I enjoyed stopping by the statue while visiting other sites in Salem for Halloween

Loved this easily accessible art installation - it's fascinating to wander through the "statues" and experience the sights and smells of living in a tree.
And experience what I guess would be how a bird views the world from its home.

Free admission and well-worth it for the many historical items on view.
Yes I enjoyed visiting this site.

Standing atop the rocks the view is incredible, but the most fun was exploring the beach at low tide.
