Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Black sand beach with coral, tropical fish and elusive turtles. Most of the activities are at the Vienna Hotel end of the beach, but there is still enough to see for the length of the entire beach.
Unfortunately, there is rubbish in the water and on the sand, but if everyone picks up a bag full, then it can be kept under control.
You can take trips on local fishing boats from this location.
There are places to hire snorkeling gear and several warungs along the beach.

Really nice place for some snorkeling! The water is super clear and not too deep. We went via the restaurant so that we had somewhere to leave our things and a place to hire equipment. If you're coming from the water, it would be even better!

Really good to go on the nearby islands. There is a shuttle bus that comes to get you and your luggage from your hotel and drops you by the boat. Really quick and efficient. It is however cheeper if you book before from someone able to get you a ticket.

We have visited Dana S. many times in his exhibition rooms and his atelier as well. Over time we bought several big paintings which embellish our home in Bali. Dana S. is a master of creating wideness, tranquility and light. The different colors he uses in his paintings are overwhelmingly intense and are illuminating the painted scenes with a unique brightness. We love both him and his paintings.

I was told by a local that the Pyramid man made reef was one of the better snorkeling spots in Amed and was not disappointed. The man made pyramid structures I came across sit at around 15-20metres in depth so would be to deep for the average snorkeler although the natural coral/reef nearby is beautiful and filled with fish.
If you're lucky you will get to see a turtle and eels like I did :)

I didn't hike Mt. Agung or anything. I stayed in Amed for several days and was blessed to see the volcano on a daily basis. I am amazed by volcanoes and love seeing the clouds and weather patterns change throughout the day. Usually in mornings and late evenings it made an appearance but during the day it was mostly cloud covered. I recommend snorkeling at Amed Beach, you get awesome views of Mt. Agung from the water.

I am very happy with my experience at Apneista. I am an advanced
Freediver and needed helped with my mouthfill to understand better what can be improved and learned the proper drills I need to practice (wet and dry). I can say that Anna surpassed my expectations and I particularly appreciate her teaching approach. She is truly passionate, has a lot of knowledge that she shares with enthusiasm. As I enjoy a lot her approach, I also booked a private pool session to focus on improving my No FiNS technique. It was filled with great insights and more drills for my trainings. l highly recommend her. She is a very attentive and talented coach. She is also training for herself and participating in competitions and aways evolving. That is also a plus to my opinion. Finally and very important, it was fun!! Freediving should be fun to my opinion. Apneista really gave me a great freediving experience in Amed . Thanks to Anna and all the staff that were all very welcoming. I will certainly be back.

There are plenty of fast boats plying the waters between Bali and the Gilli Islands and Lombok but only a couple head for peaceful Amed on the east coast of Bali. The main problem with Pacha express was that it did not have an office on the main island and therefore, you don't know where the boat is going to come ashore. I almost missed it because it was hidden by a much larger boat. The boat visits each of the three Gilli islands then heads for Bangsal on the Lombok coast before heading across the straight to Jemeluk Bay, Amed, Bali. It is never as crowded as the better known destinations. Amed is what Gilli Trawangan was 10 years ago....beach bum territory but with way better snorkeling.

The massage, amazing!! Also recommend the pedicure, as she was very delicate. The people are amazing. Hands down the best spa around Amed Beach, and possibly the whole of Bali!
