Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- The Traveling PierogiWorld277 contributionsLocated in the Washington Heights section of Manhattan, The Met Cloisters is a museum owned by the The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York (or the Met for short) features Medieval style artwork and architecture from the Gothic and Romanesque era. The word Cloister is defined as a covered walkway that surrounds a garden(s) or a courtyard usually found at monasteries, convents, or other religious buildings. It is an amazing place to have a prayer, meditate, or just having a peaceful time to reflect.
There are three cloisters in the complex, my favorite is the main one, the Cuxa Cloister. The design comes from the Abbey of Saint Michel de Cuxa. The fountain that is in the middle of the cloister dates back to the 13th century and is from Saint Genis des Fontaines Monastery. This museum makes me feel like I am in Europe, more specifically France (England is a nice feel too). Makes me want to go back to both countries and explore the countryside and visit some of these monasteries with their cloisters. Here is a little fun fact, there is a display of medieval playing cards, which is one of two known to have been in tacked.
I would recommend coming here to see what it would be like in a cloister and what it would feel like being in a monastery. But before I go, I do have to say there is a fee to get into the museum.Written 8 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Then you have good places to sit and eat. Great views of the skyline and the harbor. And there are a couple of great museums here, plus some places to eat and drink. This park has it all!Written 31 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Allan SNew York City, NY7,084 contributionsI love to come here as a refuge for the busy city and the best time here is spring. The well maintained flower beds, specimen trees and shrubs snd well maintained walks make this a great spot to relax and recharge. Many young families pushing carriages, school children after their hours snd bus loads of visitors flock here. Great spot to picnic or just hang out or stroll with loved ones 0 seconds Molly one of the best spots to visit located at 105 street and fifth avenue with the opening at the Vanderbilt gate.Written 16 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Chris MNew Mexico57 contributionsWe went there for lunch. Although there were numerous places to purchase meals the lines were very long. We were on a tour and our time was limited. The Winter Gardens is a beautiful venue.Written 2 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- therichastillStevenage, UK3,237 contributionsIn the shadow of Belvedere Castle is Shakespeare Garden. I discovered it by accident but I was glad I did. It is a small well tended area with a variety of different flowers growing. Whilst I was there a number of volunteers were working to make the garden look nice which was good to see.
When I visited there were still some things to see even though it was not the season for flowers in bloom.
There are pubic toilets nearby as well just in case nature calls ;)Written 6 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mountains2SeaMontana432 contributionsWent here with my mom and enjoyed great views with some wind shelter and sunshine. Could definitely be improved, but not bad for March. Tried to find/use elevator, but it was not accessible due to construction. Would definitely return with coffee or lunch.Written 13 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Louis FAltus, OK1,182 contributionsNice little spot in Central park where you can avoid the crowds. - Sherry HNorth Canton, OH418 contributionsThis special garden has an interesting history and is a testament to what can be done when people work together for the betterment of their neighborhood. It’s free to visit on Sundays 1:00-4:00, April-November. Talk to one of the volunteers to get the whole story. If you’re in the Upper West Side it’s a must do, but I don’t suggest going cross town just to see it because it’s pretty small.Written 25 August 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - KmcoyleSanbornville, NH1,376 contributionsWandering around the West Village and had one of the "locals " direct me to this little slice of natural beauty and peaceful contemplation. A number of short, but curved paths taking maximum advantage of the limited space. Lots of different flowers and bushes with many benches and seats. 'B' for Botanical
We call it a botanical garden because that's the traditional name for a garden where visitors come to learn about lots of plants from lots of places. The garden includes hundreds of plants, native plants as well as many that were immigrants to New York-- and that makes our garden a lot like our community.
'C' for Community
Unlike many other botanical gardens, 6BC is also a community garden: East Villagers, all volunteers, started building it on a rubble-strewn empty lot in the early 1980s.
Since then, our garden's story, like our neighborhood's, has been one of constant challenge and change.
Today, after a period in which 6BC's survival, like that of other New York community gardens, was threatened by the city's exploding development, our garden's land has been permanently set aside for public use as part of the New York City Parks system.
For a former farmboy like myself, these neighborhood gardens and parks are a wonderful reminder of my childhood back in Wisconsin.Written 31 July 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. If you miss the tulips, summer flowers follow in this beautiful Upper Westside Oasis.
I am a regular here, as I am frequently in the neighborhood. A great place to bring a cup of coffee in the morning and read the paper.Written 30 April 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
