Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great memorial, very moving to see all the names. It was clean and not too busy during our visit. We didn’t go into the museum, but the memorial itself is worth seeing.

We came to Ellis Island as part of a visit to liberty island. We weren’t very knowledge about Ellis Islands place in the immigration timeline so it was definitely interesting to hear. The audio tour is very descriptive and tells you the story as you’re walking through the building so you get a real feel for what things may have been like for those who came through this island.

The only thing I would say is that we came on a sunny day, but due to it being February, the heating seemed to be on very high which meant some rooms were unbearably warm so we ended up skipping some bits of info as it was uncomfortable to stay in certain rooms too long which was a shame.

Overall, it was a fantastic experience and the information we gained will definitely stay with us!

It was a very interesting tour with a knowledgeable guide. It was cool to see the actual meeting rooms of the UN councils as well as get a feeling of the scale of the UN and its operations.

Important to know is that you have to register online before your visit to get security clearance.

We decided to wander through this museum after eating at the tavern, and really enjoyed learning more about George Washington's usage of the tavern! We also appreciated the exhibit on the Marquis de Lafayette, who I think is under-appreciated in the history lessons on the American Revolution. We liked seeing some of Washington's personal effects, and learning more about the role of the Fraunces Tavern as a hub for the Revolution. All of the exhibits are maintained with obvious care and pride, and we really felt like we were stepping back through history. The guided tour was super informative! It's too bad this place doesn't get more attention, although I do think it's nice that there wasn't a chaotic crush of people.

We did a free tour with Jessie. He did a great job of bringing the home to life and sharing the history of one of our most accomplished presidents. Well worth the time to stop in. The museum portion is rather small but the tour is what makes the difference. It is also very near Gramercy Park.

This iconic building just outside Central Park New York is where John Lennon and Yoko Ono lived and where, in the entrance hall, he was shot. Nearby in Central Park there is a memorial area called Strawberry Fields, there was a performer there when we visited.

This museum is housed in the former home of Andrew Carnegie. It is now an art museum. When we visited, there was an art exhibit/installation by Es Devlin, a British artist and stage designer. We took a guided tour of the exhibit. It was interesting and unusual. We spent a little over an hour, but skipped the other exhibits, which weren’t that interesting in my opinion. I was also a little disappointed that while there were architectural details remaining in this beautiful mansion, there were no personal belongings or furnishings of the Carnegies. There is a lovely walled garden, but on the day we went it looked like a private event had taken place and the garden was closed.

We went for the very first time during jazz weekend. I loved seeing everyone in their jazz outfits. We walked all around and love it. Can’t wait to go back. Not sure if the food options or the fort is open during the week day, but the bee sanctuary and the little farm stand was open on the Sunday we went.

One our previous trips to NYC, we walked by Federal Hall and never stopped. This time we made a point to check it out. It's a great free attraction in lower Manhattan. It was interesting to read about the history of the original building and the one currently standing. Lots of great NY and US historical information. Had a few visitors, and wasn't packed so we could take our time to look around and read things.

No signage that I found, but the organic structure just beckons you to go investigate. Very moving monument, and the fact that it is so different than the architecture around it makes it unique. Glad I happened upon this when I was strolling.

See how the New York wealthy lived back in the early 1800s when this part of town was actually called "the country" and it took 90 minutes by carriage to get downtown. Though the house has been moved a few times to make way for city planning and such, Alexander Hamilton's country home (of which he only was able to live for a couple years before that infamous duel) was designed as an oasis for him and his family. He wanted his wife, Elizabeth, to have some of what she had as a child but now something that was just her own. Though it severely put the Hamiltons into debt, Alexander and Elizabeth's friends did not let the house or the family suffer upon his death. Elizabeth and the children were able to remain in the house until they sold it and Elizabeth moved in with one of her children downtown and then eventually to Washington, DC. If you plan on coming to the home, please make arrangements to arrive around the time a tour of the upstairs is arranged. Though there is a nice display on the ground level where you enter, it will only take a short time to peruse, and you might as well see what's upstairs, where it is refurbished much in the style of what it would have been like in Alexander and Elizabeth's day.

This monument was the last stop on our New York City Slavery and Underground Railroad Tour and, since it was the same end of the tour, we decided to go into the museum. I'm so glad we did. We arrived just in time to join a park ranger guided tour of the artwork in the lobby. Wow! Such profound and moving art! When that finished, we walked around the museum. I'd never heard the story that led to the creation of the monument and museum in this sacred place, despite the long-buried cemetery being discovered in 1989. If you're in the city, you MUST visit. This part of the history of NYC should not be forgotten.

Visited this wonderful building with my wife and were lucky enough to take part in a tour hosted by Bro Louis Cooper. He was so informative and passionate about both Freemasonry and the building.

The lodge rooms are jaw dropping. The scale and decor are beautiful.

Well worth a visit for Masons and non Masons alike.

It's now the train station! Yes Amtrak has taken over the huge midtown post office and transformed it into a hall where you await your train. It's brand new and in beautiful shape. Come and see it before it gets old and dirty! Works well as a train station, but not a lot of activity.
