Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Miah was great, funny and very knowledgeable about the history. All the foods were great . The rumblings and pizza tired for 1st. The cannolis was equal to Mikes in Boston. The shops were small so the group of 8 had to eat outside at each venue. Weather was perfect so it was no issue.

Valerie was just incredible with knowledge of the history of the area and the food and portions were perfect. I will highly recommend this tour to friends traveling to NYC. I wish we would have started our vacation with this tour.

I can't think of a better way to get the inside story about Greenwich Village and West Village than spending a few hours with a born and bred street smart New Yorker stand up comic in the making like Adam. Walking the streets hearing about secret food delights, celebrities' homes, quintessential figures with a bit of history thrown in made for an afternoon incredibly well spent. I seriously will check them out again in my next trip. Not only does Adam know the places to go to but also, he made Washington Park come alive with his anecdotes, introducing us to Larry and his unusual bird tricks...(I shall not ruin the surprise!) . Back home now, I find myself craving the star of show, Bleeker Street Pizza and the Nonna, a crsip light cornmeal thin crust topped with fresh mozzarella, homemade marinara sauce, the finest Parmesan and fresh basil - simply divine!!

Chris was a gem of a tour guide—knowledgeable, patient, generous, friendly. We enjoyed all of our stops, all the bites and sips, the history/background/future development, the conversations with other group members, the banter, the recommendations. Would take another tour with Like a Local any day.

The staff were truly amazing. Such a lovely way to see the city. Staff were ready to take pictures of you whenever requested and constantly made sure you were looked after. Amazing views and timed so perfectly. One of the best experiences of my life.
The inside is heated so it is perfect for the colder months.

I have done Culinary Backstreets food tours before which were exceptional, and this one did not disappoint! Our guide was a Queens local originally from Colombia with his own rich food heritage and a vast knowledge of the many food cultures that thrive in this fascinating part of New York. We ate from a number of local restaurants and food stalls, and we left feeling so full that we did not have to eat again for the rest of the day! Not only was the food fantastic but Esneider was an engaging person who was also very well organized and prepared for our tour. If you only have a few hours and would like to dip into the many and varied cuisines available in Queens, I would highly recommend this tour.

This was a great tour: mixing history and cuisine, which are two of my favourite things in the world! I booked this tour because I had already explored New York but NYC being so big, I never got to stop by the popular restaurants/establishments, the staples of NY's gastronomy, and I wanted to learn about the eateries that were pivotal in the city's culture, typical, authentic and even "cult". This tour ticked the box: our four food samples were from Chinese, Italian, Jewish and Dominican cuisines. Mickey, our guide, talked to us about many immigration waves in NYC, and their context and timeline. She also explained the origins of the tenements which are so emblematic.

It lasted 3 hours and a half instead of 3 because of all our questions and because the weather was gorgeous. Be ready for the walk but I would not say that it is sporty/intense. We have seatings for most of our samples and some of the areas.

My husband, young adult daughter, and I went on Greg’s excellent NYC Greenwich Village Italian Food Tour on a Saturday. Since this experience is not just a food tour, but also interwoven with very interesting history, we met on the steps of the beautiful St Anthony of Padua church where Greg greeted us with some brigadeiros from the shop across the street. These are bite-sized deliciously rich and sweet Brazilian treats that he shared with us due to the large Italian community that resides in Brazil. Therefore, the brigadeiros were used as a clever segue to introduce the history of Italian immigration to Brazil, after which we followed Greg inside the church to officially begin our tour. The ornate décor was stunning and the history Greg conveyed was intriguing. Once we left the church we were taken to experience excellent and fresh gastronomic delights which included, pasta, cappuccino, an Italian dessert, a pizza slice, a meatball sub, and fresh mozzarella. Walking with him through the streets of Greenwich Village on a gorgeous day and through Washington Square Park where we met a skilled chess player friend of his and heard the melodic tones of some nice jazz made a perfect day of food tasting complete.

Greg’s upbeat personality and engaging conversation made this a fun day, and I strongly recommend this family friendly food tour. I will definitely make it a point to reserve one of his other tours the next time I am in NYC.

Went on a tour led by Rashad. I had a blast and would recommend this experience to just about everyone! Rashad is very knowledgeable about the food and the history which made for a very educational and fun experience. I felt like I was laughing the whole tour through. The food was a delicious mix of small bites and standard dishes that kept us well-fed and happy. Also, the tour had a great balance of sitting and walking while eating and sight-seeing. If you are unsure, pull the trigger, it's worth it!

It was a nice boat ride. The food was decent and servers were friendly. It would have been better if they narrated the cruise to alert passengers to the landmarks we were passing. This is a sightseeing cruise. Besides obvious landmarks, like Statue of Liberty, we had no idea what we were looking at as we cruised down the river. I went on a similar cruise in Paris that was wonderful because they did a good job of telling passengers the history of each landmark while we passed it.
