Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- MouzourisDetroit, MI2,095 contributionsWe stopped by on our way back from Muir Woods just for some photos. What an amazing place. The history of it is incredible and most people don't even know it's right there. You can easily spend hours there going thru it. Don't miss the roof top for great pictures but beware of the wind as I almost lost my hat and glasses. Also bring a jacket as it's gets pretty cold with that wind.Written 3 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sachin KNew York City, NY6,556 contributionsThis lighthouse on Alcatraz Island can be spotted from a long distance. Close upfront it is impressive. Cannot go inside it but certainly worth looking at from up close.Written 4 December 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - misopiso88Seattle, WA24,959 contributionsIn February 1901, the SS City of Rio de Janeiro wrecked on the rocks, which prompted the Mile Rocks Lighthouse to be built. 128 of 209 aboard, lost their lives when the ship sank. You can catch a view off of Mile Rock Beach of the historical lighthouse provided there is not too much fog.Written 6 March 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
