You can visit Hapuna Beach State Park (lots of public parking) another great beach and walk (under a mile) along the Ala Kahakai trail to this beach.
You need to go very early or late to get a spot here—but if one person doesn’t mind waking, you can drop off at Mauna Kea and then park at Hapuna and walk one mile along the seashore.

We walked further than Hiilawe Falls (this is the “Jurassic Park” Falls, btw) and were treated to one more small waterfall in the distance.
Of course that is also the best place to take pictures, so find a place to park & walk back to where the signs are.

Look for the mile marker 69 turn left if your'e coming from Kona then take the first right and drive until you see the gate with parking, park your car, and walk towards the ocean.
The parking gets a little full especially on the weekends but people are coming and going and there is always a place to park.
