It's smaller and more manageable than DC's museums, and really great for my 7-year old, who LOVED it.
We love to visit train museums This one has a good election of steam and diesel trains.

... admission!! Took me back to my childhood and got to show my son what our entertainment was like when I was his age...buy the "All in one" ticket to see the museum...which includes all the museums in the building!
They often do fun events where the museum is open late with food and drinks that we really enjoy!

Because of the first class temperature control and security inside , this museum recently hosted the Norman Rockwell exhibit, only found in the best museums.
I've been through the museum several times as part of the Roanoke Food Tour.The history they impart during the visit is a great background for the architectural details of the building as well as some of the views.

This is a terrific museum, especially for young children, although we seniors enjoyed it also.
