What travellers are saying
- Jason MPattaya, Thailand18 contributionsNice little hike to the swimming hole near the base of the waterfall. You can't hike all the way to where the water actually falls, but that doesnt matter. Great fun splashing around in both as deep and shallow pool filled with curious fish.Written 15 April 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- McCaffreyThaiBuriram, Thailand35 contributionsSo glad it is open again and so beautiful in November. Really a great beach to enjoy the sand, enjoy the rocky areas and to relax. Parking a scooter was easy.Written 10 November 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Bell_KanyaratNakhon Pathom, Thailand2 contributionsWhite Sand Beach is a beach with fine white sand as its name suggests. It is one of the must-see attractions if visiting Koh Chang once. It's especially busy here. Because tourists from all over the world come to sunbathe and swim in the sea, resulting in accommodation, resorts and restaurants with good atmosphere. Let us choose to sit and chill quite a lot.Written 24 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- kcchinHonolulu, HI1,210 contributionsMostly frequented by Eastern Europeans. Come nightfall, the area is very quiet and peaceful. Beautiful sunsets. Not much of a party atmosphere. Family oriented.Written 30 July 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Abdul RSingapore, Singapore6 contributionsa bit of a hike but it is worth it. Have a nice afternoon and watch sunset or early birds can view sunrises very nice indeed.Written 7 October 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- TonyJohnTWirral, UK187 contributionsBeautiful island within a National Park.
Ss most people we joined a large boat and travelled the 1 hour from Bang Bao on Koh Chang.
The only thing. that spoilt the beauty and tranquility was the hoard of life-jacketed tourists, almost entirely Thai. It was literally like an ant's nest in the water.
On a plus side I was pleased to note how healthy the corals were.
Worth a visit inspite of rent-a-crowd laden boats.Written 25 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - KarelttlLeidschendam, The Netherlands83 contributionsBeautiful long beach surrounded by shadowrich trees. The only restaurant/bar is serving good food but we had the impression that it was faded glory with older hippies as regular customers. But we only visited the beach once. We were surprised to see a public shower by the restaurant! Good to wash the salt awayWritten 16 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- BangkokSachseBangkok, Thailand39,342 contributionsOn the first day on Koh Chang we drove to the view point. The views were beautiful. There is a small cafe at the view point. We walked to the upper view point behind the coffee shop. The restrooms are acceptable.Written 9 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- nednapaausTrat, Thailand10 contributionsYayee Cafe which is located in the Mini mart in Klongkoi good Thai food and cheap in Koh Chang. There is a beautiful beach for swimming and strolling around.Written 16 December 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- JuliemCopenhagen, Denmark250 contributionsWent here by scooter and where happy we choose this place. They asked if we wanted to ride the Elephant but i asked if we could only feed? And they sayd off course. We the bought a bucket of bananas for THB200. And Got to feed one of the elephants. They had Long chains around one leg, but looked like they where fine. They could reach the river and a lot of food. Some where walking around the compound, next to a Elephant Care taker.
Would go here again if in Koh Chang, dont choose the Elephant places by the main Road, they do not look nice.Written 2 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - olga tAthens, Greece5 contributionsGiants in chains. The elephants seem not very happy, but the opportunity to see an elephant so close.Written 9 December 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- John BBangkok, Thailand817 contributionsIt's interesting reading other reviews that say this snorkeling was much better before, that the local marine life is being devastated by some input that they couldn't be clear on, maybe pollution or trash or maybe something else. After visiting different places on the mainland and main islands (Samui and Phuket, in addition to Hua Hin, Krabi, and others) it was nice to take a tour of small local islands from Koh Chang and see this island and places with any fish and coral. That's the thing though; if it's not as much of a thriving underwater ecosystem as it had been 5 years ago then something is kind of wrong.
Since I've only seen it once I have to go on that; it was nothing like when we lived in Hawaii but you could actually snorkel here, there were fish and coral. The sand on the beach was finer and cleaner than I've seen anywhere else in Thailand, maybe only equivalent in some places in Koh Chang. It's not as if I've seen any of the other smaller islands though, to be clear; we've had very young kids for awhile and they're only now able to swim well enough to do this kind of tour, although they weren't with us on this particular trip.
It's getting to be a tangent but I've read that the Great Barrier reef in Australia is suffering from a massive coral die-off due to a shift in water temperature; an ecosystem disruption could be caused by something like that. If that's it there would really be no way to fix it. It seems likely that some plastic bottles around wouldn't necessarily kill off all the fish and that something else like that might be a cause, but of course I don't know.Written 2 May 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Houmark3Helsingoer Municipality, Denmark9 contributionsBeautiful and refreshing small waterfall. Nice to be able to swim properly in the pond and a beautiful walk thereWritten 11 October 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- DeReufDriebergen, The Netherlands152 contributionsBesides the Klong Plu Waterfall, the Than Mayom Waterfall is the second best in Koh Chang. We visited Koh Chang in June and the raining season started a little early, so the hike was wet. However, we were able to make it on flip-flops while my wife was carrying our 2-years-old son in the carrier on her back. No problems with that. The waterfall has 6 or 7 stages and you can even climb up to a few of them.
Beautiful spot for some relaxing, bathing or enjoying the sun. As I said, we were here off-season, so I do not know how busy it will be during high-season...Written 27 June 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Willaim SSlough, UK101 contributionsWell worth a visit. They start setting up at 5pm so arrive 5.30pm - 6pm and enjoy all thing barbecue and friut galore. Lots of things to tempt even the most picky eater. A good sample but not all the best thai dishes. Easy going and not too daring but very tasty.Written 14 March 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
