What travellers are saying
- renikjWest Frankfort, IL2 contributionsWe went to Stockyards and had a great time. Cattle drives are every day at 11:30 and 4. We went to 11:30 one, get there no later than 11 to have time to park and get to a spot. We walked around that area which was fun. We ate lunch at 97 West which is restaurant at the Drover Hotel. It was delicious and the hotel is a must see! Sit on the back patio!Written 18 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tom from TexasSan Antonio, TX203 contributionsThis is a very good zoo. A lot of effort is made to mimic the animals natural habitat, yet you can get pretty close to some of them. The enclosures are larger than other zoos I have visited. There is plenty of information about conservation and the animals.
The paths are walkable and not overly strenuous. My only real complaint is that strollers and wagons get in the way, so perhaps stroller parking should be made available and enforced.
The Texas area includes a very large children’s area.
I arrived before opening time, and there was already a long line to get in. When I left, it looked like parking was a nightmare.
I have mixed feelings about zoos. I do have concerns about the animals being out of their larger natural habitat, but value the education provided.Written 24 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. You can walk to many other museums too.Written 15 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- CEEQ2014Tyler, TX65 contributionsEveryone talks about the arboretum... this was an unexpected treasure and it is not even spring flowers and summer weather time yet! The gardens were beautiful even on a cold, windy day with not much colour to see. The Japanese garden is so much bigger than I expected and everywhere you turn is a photo opportunity. Gorgeous. The Beauty Bus was a great help to us as we had someone that couldn't walk the entire time. Our only disappointment was that we missed the butterflies by a week and so the inside was closed in preparation.Written 1 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Alan OSt Austell, UK63 contributionsFort Worth is a three day trip, loved it but three days is enough. - Timothy CWoodway, TX230 contributionsWe went to the Ft. Worth Symphony last night. The auditorium was perfect, the service and drink bar were flawless. The Strauss and the Tchaikovsky pieces were inspired. The modern piece, while executed well by the orchestra, was simply dark and depressing. We don’t pay to hear dark and depressing. We are not masochists. Do not do this again. I don’t care if you are married to the conductor. Get outside, see nature, lighten up.Written 27 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Eileen PAustin, TX3 contributionsThis is one of the nicest, friendliest museums in the nation. It's all American art of the finest quality in a gorgeous building. Visit and revisit your faves from Georgie O'Keeffe to the most obscure and know that you're surrounded by premier work. Add Remington's sculptures and Russell's paintings for a touch of cowboy art, and just relax and be prepared to be happy. Good for all ages and all levels of art appreciation!Written 1 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Matt KRogers, AR38 contributionsVisiting the US Bureau of Engraving and Printing offered an intriguing glimpse into the production of U.S. currency. The building itself is quite interesting, housing the impressive feat of producing 60% of all U.S. paper currency.
The tour begins with a 21-minute video, which, although somewhat dated, provides a good introduction to the currency production process. The shift from person-guided tours to a self-guided format using a wand for audio at each of the nine stops is a notable change. While informative, the audio segments felt a bit lengthy, but they did offer detailed insights into each stage of currency production.
The real highlight came after the audio tour, with the exhibits. These were engaging and offered a deeper dive into the intricacies of currency design, security features, and the historical evolution of U.S. banknotes. These exhibits were not only educational but also visually interesting, making the latter part of the visit particularly enjoyable.
Overall, the US Bureau of Engraving and Printing is worth a visit for those interested in the behind-the-scenes workings of currency production. While the self-guided tour might require a bit of patience, the wealth of information and fascinating exhibits make it a rewarding experience.Written 20 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sheighlin WTucson, AZ9 contributionsThis was a gorgeous morning to afternoon trip. Even with some plants in their mid-winter phase, we loved the origami flowers and decor. Quite a nice walk. Had our cameras going in every little area. The cafe on premises was a bit overpriced and underwhelming, but you are allowed to bring your own food and drinks in- will do that next time. The indoor tropical garden greenhouse was phenomenal. We went with our 9 year old daughter, and I worried she might get bored, but she found something she liked in every area. Oh! Our GPS tried to take us through some closed streets, so we got a little turned around getting to the garden, but just go to the botanical garden center to park.Written 7 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Rick BRound Rock, TX1,305 contributionsThis was a nice speedway. The grounds were clean, and the views of the race were awesome. There are ample food and drink choices available. My only complaint is that they funneled the whole crowd out one entrance at the end although that route did put us directly on I-35W south which is what we needed. It was a long road and a long wait to get out though.Written 25 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
