It was originally erected to commemorate those who died in service or were killed in action in World War One with the names of those who died in service or were killed in action in World War Two added in 2004.

It is located on the median strip opposite a garage ( that despite it's age is still an ongoing venture). If you are in town, it's worth a moment to reflect on the impacts of the wars to this small town. There is also a small plaque on a stone for those who fought in the Boer war.
