A lovely lovely spot in the Yarra Valley area a stones throw from wee vibrant villages along winding roads in spectacular gum forests further north into the Dandenong Ranges.

We visited this water reservoir just couple of days before it was closed till the third week of June for inspection as a part of upgrading the facility. This reservoir is one among those providing drinking water to the state. A beautiful place to refresh oneself through walking in a calm place. Also there are picnic parks on one side of the water reservoir to relax.

Imagine a train set on a massive scale with tunnels, mountains and bridges. Now add villages, airports, quarries, lakes, trucks, emergency services, a casino, a haunted house, gondolas, ships and even Wally! You will still be surprised by the detail on display. There are steps for shorter persons and some buttons to press that add to your delight. Enjoy!

A small, compact museum filled with fabulous artefacts! The displays change regularly so you never know what you'll find next. A wonderful way to learn more about the history of Emerald and surrounding areas. Well worth a visit.

A visit to this museum has become a annual event for students at the local primary school. A great way to keep connected to the community.

Had a fantastic experience getting local advice around bushwalks from the Eastern Dandenong visitors centre after struggling to decide using the online site. Always better to call direct than try to use info boards or the website as volunteers have more current info on what’s best for weather conditions and personal fitness. Thanks Lynn the volunteer!

This was the third time I have been to this park over the years, but first time I stopped to take a walk through it ... the first time I walked past it with my partner ( at the time)watching children laugh and play , the second time I parked parallel to this and looked at it over the fence with the streetlights glinting off the play equipment. This time I went for a walk through it.

There is parking along it's edges. It is walking distance to the cafes in town, so it's really easy to grab something to eat and then utilise the seating in the park to make a picnic of your takeaway food. But the other way to arrive at the park is via Puffing Billy and I have no doubt that most people who visit have come via the famous local train...because it's only a short walk from the station.

There are public toilets, BBQs, a rotunda, train-themed play equipment, picnic tables and a huge grassy area at this park... so it has everything you will need.

I adore nature ... trees, gardens, flowers, history... and this garden has it all. This is the only nationally significant nursery collection identified in Australia that is housed in the same nursery grounds in which it was developed.

Carl Axel Nobelius died in 1921. Much of the nursery land was sold, part to become the Emerald Country Club and part Emerald Lake Park. The nursery continued to operate on this site, with several changes of ownership, under the management of Cliff Nobelius until its sale in 1956. After two more changes of ownership , it finally closed in 1980.

So what's left is a beautiful heritage garden, with information boards to tell you about the nursery that was. It tells you about what was achieved and about those who worked there. Their memories linger in these beautiful gardens...so many stories, so many lives affected by this piece of land... and you can visit and picnic here OR just enjoy the beauty around you.

Been to several events at Gemco. Plays, musicals and performances. Great comfortable seating with plenty of leg room. Not overpriced admission and good viewing regardless of where you sit in the tiered viewing area. Outside the theatre is a bar and plenty of parking off street and also on the street. This is a great venue and more people should know of it and utilise it.

The trail starts at Emerald and consists of almost 10km to Gembrook. Some hills but the paths are well maintained and not overly difficult. You get to see various hilly vistas. You can get to Emerald Lake Park, about 2 km away from the start and Cockatoo is just another 3km away.
