My partner and I specifically came from Melbourne to Beechworth to visit the Billson's Brewery and it was well worth it. The Brewery is beautiful, the buildings, the speakeasy, the rainbow room... all stunning. Robert, who lead the tour, was friendly, hilarious and had world of knowledge. We got to sample so many of the products which were all delicious, especially the cocktails. Highly recommend!!

A large amount of money has been invested in this brand new audio presentation of famous trials in the Beechworth courthouse. Tickets can be purchased in the Tourist Information Centre across the road. They were very cheap too!
The video highlighted many of the famous Kelly trials that took place in Beechworth in the 1860's - 70's, including the famous murder trial that led to his hanging.
Following the video there are many interesting artefacts to peruse. This was a very worthwhile activity if you enjoy history.

Went to another amazing vineyard. Our host (Kerrie) was fantastic, attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. We tried some Pinot Noir, Shiraz, and two blends. We liked them so much we left with 14 bottles 😂😂😂.

Came here with a friend for dinner and to try the beer paddle. This was ten different beers for $30. Bargain!! Had a really nice meal of pizza, veggies and duck fat potatoes. Lots of great options to sit and relax. Good variety of other drinks such as a Moscato that I highly recommend.

Really interesting facts about the town during the gold rush. Great displays and photographs. Lots of bird displays. Some information on Burke & Wills but not an excessive amount. It would have been interesting to see more about their travels.

Fun to pick the strawbs, easy to pick (they are at waist level, not ground level) and reasonably priced. Plus they do smoothies and jams etc.

I spend a lot of time walking around the gorge. My puppies love to walk it with me. Great views of the waterfall and cascades.

A wonderful town with heritage buildings, and welcoming locals. The bakery (dog friendly) and pie shops were worth the visit alone. The parks are also lovely. I visited the Information Centre and the staff there were welcoming and informative. Definitely a hidden gem, and I would recommend you put it on your travel to do list.

I love the history of cemeteries. The guide booklet gave us lots of interesting information. The Chinese area reminded us that not all were treated well on the gold fields. The meaning of the burning towers was of great interest.

This tour was not scary and is suitable for children. The guide takes you on an 1.5 tour of the inside and the grounds of the former asylum. It is more of an historical than a ghost tour. The guide told our group a lot about the history of the various residents of the asylum.
The conclusion of the tour takes place in the cellar: the Guide tells a spooky story of a former resident and than turns the lights out. This was the only mildly creepy part of the tour.

What a most pleasant way to spend a Sunday arvo over the long weekend - bathed in sunshine, a little cool yet snug, sampling some very fine wines, and most gracious hosts in Paul and Clare.

    A must do in Beechworth.
