This is well designed and so very poignant. This is commemorating the disaster that hit the east coast in the 1880's when a sudden violent storm sprung up. The boats we open deck sixteens and far of the coast. Some were lost at sea and some on trying to enter the narrow sheltered harbours with treacherous rocks so near the entrances. The loss and anguish on the faces of the ones waiting word on their loved ones, so dramatic.

This is located on the beach front between the Bakery and the Co-op. We also visited the ones in Burnmouth and St Abbs as well but they are on a smaller scale due to the fact the villages lost less people. they are all in the same style done by the same artist. So worth visiting when in eyemouth. There is also a memorial to the disaster up on the hill above the harbour near the golf course. The is also an older memorial somewhere in Eyemouth, but we didn't see it. Heavy rain came on and we found better things to do. (The Fleet)

Nice little harbour, reminds me of parts of Fife. Free parking in the town but have to pay for parking at the harbour. Saw a couple of seals which was a bonus. Nice little eateries.

This a a very well presented museum showing the history of Eyemouth, highlighting the Fort on the headland with a digital presentation, growth of the town and local industries. The tragically special display is the Tapestry listing the lost fishermen names and the boat that they we lost on. Also listed are the men from the nearby coastal villages, Burnmouth, Cove and St Abbs lost on the same disastrous Friday.

This place is staffed by volunteers and they do a damned good job that we saw. It also acts as the Tourist Information hub for the area. Well worth an hour or two of your time when visiting Eyemouth, really lets you know the story of Eyemouth.

Stayed at Merchants House for a long weekend to celebrate a family members birthday. The two floors where we stayed above the museum, were spacious and had everything you could need for an enjoyable stay. The house is very quirky and boasts great views over the harbour. Unfortunately the museum was closed during our stay, so can’t comment on this. As the weather was good we were able to get out for long walks, fish and chips and ice-cream. A lovely characterful house and would definitely recommend it if your looking for something different.

Ayton Castle is such a beautiful place with gorgeous grounds. The castle is still a private home, but the grounds are open to visitors. The castle does occasionally open to the public for events, including Art in the Castle, which takes place once a year over August Bank Holiday weekend, Sat till Sunday. It's free entry to the exhibition and castle, and packed with the work of local artists and makers. This was a great way to see the beautiful main public rooms, which have ornate plaster ceilings and listed plasterwork decorated walls. The castle's little cafe was also open for refreshments and bakes and the owners were operating their train for rides through the grounds. It's best to park at the little station car park for this, which is a separate entrance from the way into the castle. It means you can leave your car there, buy a ticket at the kiosk for the train and ride in style through the wooded grounds. There is only limited parking in front of the castle if you're visiting the arts' event, or there's parking in Ayton Village which is a lovely 10 minute stroll away through the turreted entrance gate, then just follow the path to the castle. Highly recommend a visit as it's a really lovely castle, not stuffy, great atmosphere, particularly when the art fair was on. Think that always takes place over August Bank Holiday weekend. We visited it last year and planning to go back again.

Well worth a visit, not really a lot to see but the views are fabulous. Still a few of the old canons left. A lovely walk worth taking.

I have played around 40 golf courses and this may be my favorite!

The layout is stunning with some really nice views. The course is in top condition, I have no played it a few times over the years now and its always a pleasure.

When you get to the 6th tee, after a fun walk, you are left with a very difficult shot towards a small target. The wind was in our face so I had to hit a low 5 iron which I managed to land 8 feet from the pin. It was either one of my best shots in golf or the luckiest!

After the game we all went into the lovely clubhouse and had a fantastic meal. Staff were all brilliant with us and I recommend this club to all my golfing buddies.

Staff amazingly helpful. Couldn’t fault them. Granddaughter had forgotten her swimming costume but we were able to buy one. She also forgot her goggles and the staff kindly lent us two pairs for the children. We even had the pool to ourselves for more than 10 minutes.

Hopefully, this is done from a place of kindness and not just for profit, but this is a very bad thing to do for the seals!
Please inform yourselves before supporting this. It may be fun for you but it is detrimental to the seals.

The river is actually called Eye Water and it’s the nub of the town with the working harbour built around where it meets Tom he sea to form Eyemouth.

There’s a pedestrian bridge to cross from the harbour to the local houses and then a further foot tide near Gunsgreen house.

While we were here Storm Francis hit and turned the water chocolate brown.

Very good statue in the Centre of the Eyemouth Main street. Willy Spears truly deserves this as standing up to the all powerful church at the time. A good true story with an unusually happy ending. Worth a look and check out the story.
