Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- Anita TForster, Australia538 contributionsWe stopped off at the West Wyalong Wetlands to stretch our legs. The walk meanders through the wetlands .
There are lots of birds especially finches. There are tables and viewing areas. We did notice that there was a fair bit of invasive species in the area.
There is a display of early Aboriginal hunting tools and a cool Kangaroo.Written 14 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. ( isn't that what road trips are all about - flexibility ?). I had stayed overnight, woken to walk through the nearby Wetlands and then made my way to this store... It was before open time so I walked around town admiring the beautiful buildings.
The lady was very welcoming as I arrived letting me in before she had fully set up. The glasswork is undoubtedly beautiful, but in the back of my mind I knew I was moving house and really should not indulge. I walked past a bowl that caught my eye a few times, and then I excused myself. I returned to my car ( I am pretty trusting - my credit cards were in the car) and said I simply had to have the bowl.
But why? The lady had just explained the gold flecks through, held it up against the light ... I was mesmerised until she told me the name of the piece... which was my name. I believe it was destiny and I simply had to have it. When I explained to her why I had to have this piece, she told me that she rarely names pieces but this one was because of it being unusual. That fits, I am considered a little bit unusual at times.
I have been looking for a statement piece for a dining table that I had built for a home a few years ago... I have been looking for about four years... and then suddenly it was before me.
I then simply had to have one of her magnificent candles ... because I know that my mother is going to love it. The blue glass and the scent ... it was a heavenly combination. ( her birthday isn't until the end of the month though)
The works here are something special - unique and whilst the store is small, I highly recommend a visit.Written 11 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I pulled over to walk around it... to note is the memorial for Sargent Rattey- VC nearby. A simple stone with plaque on it... there is another memorial for him across the main road with a statue of him.
But enough about that... and onto the aircraft- The Douglas DC-3 is a propeller-driven airliner manufactured by Douglas Aircraft Company, which had a lasting effect on the airline industry in the 1930s to 1940s and World War II. It was developed as a larger, improved 14-bed sleeper version of the Douglas DC-2.
This particular plane was built in Oklahoma City Factory on 13th October, 1943. It was delivered to the RAAF and registered as AS A65-23. This aircraft was flown by RAAF units, 36 Squadron, 81 Transport Wing and 34 Squadron. After this it was utilised in many areas and there is an information board at the location that will run you through these.
It was purchased at the end of its shelf life by a man called Jack Masling of Cootamundra and when he was approached by the Lions Club - he donated it.
This aircraft is in the West Wyalong Lions Club Park... and there is a really funny sign explaining Dull, Boring and Bland... it really is a must stop when you are in town.Written 9 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - C...Victoria, Australia91,974 contributionsMc Cann park is located on the Main Street of town...as you enter the park through the main entrance there are information boards giving you information about the White Water Tank Supply (which is what you are standing on, it was the only water supply for the gold diggings in the late 1800s) and about Len Mc Cann (the park is named after him- this gent is worth reading about as he was involved in everything... and I do mean everything for his community).
With sculptures, a pond, toilets, BBQs, gardens, established trees, a fenced playground, picnic tables ... this park has everything you will need to break from driving or just to relax and spend time in the park.Written 15 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Anton likes to explore boundaries with different mediums... he is a renowned chalk artist, he does drawings and illustrations and then dabbles with murals. All that talent in one person!
But this painting which isn't that large is something unique because it is 3D. Anton did his research to ensure that the narrative of the painting reflected a local story.
It is located on the side of an Art Shop which is so appropriate! So look for 'Splatter' to see this. The running of the bulls was once a display of bravado... these days I believe it's a bucket list item for those with no will to live... but I digress.Written 10 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I had visited the Wetlands early in the morning assuming whatever was across the road was most likely to be a free camping ground... in the afternoon as I was leaving the town, I saw a sign for this and turned into a street which led me to drive into a dirt road going through the reserve. There was an Ah-Huh moment for me as I realised that this is where the track leading away from the Avenue Of Trees & Memorial Arch must lead.
The reserve has a wee bit of everything, but I guess most people will remember it for the Poppet Head or even Neeld's hut. It also has sculptures made from recycled materials that are really worth taking a look at. Heaps of information boards. Toilets and undercover BBQs... and just one more added feature there is a fenced dog park on the edge of the reserve.
There are a lot of reasons to stop here, park your car and go for a walk. Paths are in reasonable condition and it is fairly flat ....so it's great for people with mobility issues.Written 15 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. On display are a number of significant indigenous artefacts and symbols which were all painted by local artists.
Personally I know I am not meant to have favourites but the kangaroo was delightful... standing proudly displaying local heritage, it just seemed right that the kangaroo dons the artwork from the local region.
All of it is interesting and worth visiting... we can never know enough about the land we live on. This display. opened in NAIDOC week in 2021.Written 10 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I am half expecting to see cowboys pacing in the street and shooting each other". However, I meant that in a good way.... I found this town so charming. The people everywhere in every business were the friendliest people I have ever met.
The town has some remarkable buildings along the Main Street, so if you click on the website you can actually do a heritage walk with audio.
The walk starts in the Tattersall Hotel- it tells you all about the history of the Tattersall, then continues on to the Russell Drysdale Monument ... you will end the walk at the Community Church which is the 12th audio file.
The gentleman doing the audio has a very pleasant voice and he sounds like he would make a good tour guide.Written 11 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Fenced. Car parking area nearby. Gym equipment for the dogs... well I think it's for dogs... it's a little low for humans. 😀
It also has cut outs of dogs on the outside of the fence. So similar to the premise of taking your children to a playground ... this is where your pet will learn to play with others.Written 16 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. You can't miss seeing the sculpture if you visit the park, even to use the amenities ... you walk past it. This carving is of a Wedge-Tailed Eagle and the Mallee Fowl - two birds that you will find locally. The advantage of having them carved is they sit still so you can take a photograph. :)
