The guided tour was well-organized, and the instructors were funny, engaging, and very helpful, making the tour both enjoyable and safe. The highlight was, of course, seeing the dolphins up close—an amazing moment I’ll always remember.
The only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars is due to a small but important issue regarding phone protection. When I asked about how to keep my phone safe from water, I was told I needed to purchase a $15 phone case. However, I later learned (from one of the guides informing another participant) that the life jackets have a pocket where the phone can be stored. While I understand this option may not be completely safe, it would have been nice to know about it beforehand so I could decide for myself.
Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I would recommend it to others. - Eve S1 contributionWe really enjoyed our experience at Go Sea Kayak!! We saw turtles and so many dolphins. We felt very lucky.
The staff were also fantastic when we capsized on the way in and out of the sea. There to help us as soon as we resurfaced!

The initial plan was to go just for one class but I loved it so much that extended my stay in Byron Bay to take two more. The coaches made sure you are focusing on the elements you want and always asked if there is anything else I would like to learn. She was an excellent instructor and helped us both stand on a wave within the first half hour! As beginners, we were appreciate that the multi-hour lesson took place on a not-so-busy beach south of Byron Bay. We rode a ton of waves and had a blast. Thanks Millsy for an an-fab experience up to the amazing lighthouse. Seeing the sunrise, beach and flight surfers just added to the enjoyment. Your commentary and knowledge of the area was so informative.
🔥 tip: Hurts me to say this. but may not be suitable for those with hip, knee or achilles issues due to the number of steps, and steep ascents/descents. Fitbit round trip steps totalled 13,500.

We started coming to Byron in 2006 with four very young children and looked around for instructors to teach them how to surf. We were so fortunate to meet Dean and Tam who run Black Dog Surfing. Our children visit Byron often and have gained so much knowledge from the Black Dog Surf team over the years. No matter how busy the schedule is Dean always finds time to squeeze in lessons for us and our friends with either him or his amazing instructors. We will continue to keep visiting Byron and keep asking Black Dog to take care of our friends and family learning to surf here. Thanks for the decades of amazing surf instruction and great friendships too.
