Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- MJ95Illinois7 contributionsBeautiful setting, staff was lovely and knowledgeable about the wines, our table was on the edge of the vineyard and it felt like we were in the middle of it! Great experience and great wines!Written 27 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- SLRUpland, CA154 contributionsWe so enjoyed our time visiting the Mt. Hood Winery during our trip to Oregon. It located just outside of Hood River, with beautiful views of Mt. Hood and the surrounding valley. Sitting outside on their patio it is so serene to enjoy your wine and take in the beautiful surroundings. The wine we tried was excellent. Definitely recommend making a stop here.Written 24 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Mary BWaterloo, IL104 contributionsTheir website said reservations were required, but when we got there, a sign said, “reservations appreciated.” I just don’t like the stress of having to be on time if we really didn’t have to. The tasting was okay. Our server was nice enough, but I can’t say anything was over the top. We did not purchase any wine as we are in a couple of wine clubs and nothing surpassed what we already subscribe to. That said, wine is such a personal preference, so don’t try it on my taste. The place was clean. Views were okay.Written 28 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Alice D86 contributionsMy friends and I enjoyed a wonderful 8 day trip to Hood River. We selected Wy'East as one of the wineries to visit for a tasting. Arriving after a full day of local adventures we relaxed on the back deck, watched the Alpacas eat and rest while sampling some very good wines. Our server did a nice job of describing the wines and providing information on the vineyards they were sourced from. We also selected a few bottles to take home.Written 21 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- SandiRound Rock, TX42 contributionsStopped after a day of sightseeing. Taylor was our server. She is a treasure. We did a wine tasting only, but had a great visit with her. She told us not only about the wines we tasted, but also about the area.Written 18 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JeanDVancouver, WA58 contributionsThis was are first trip there and we were delightfully surprised. The owners built the wine tasting room/restaurant by using the trees on their property and had the wood milled and the structure was built from that wood. They did a beautiful job. Even the bar was made from their trees.
The owner couldn’t have been nicer. She made several trips to our table to see if everything was ok. We had a delicious wood fire pizza, perfect size for two. . The wine tasting was very nice and the view was beautiful. There is quite a bit of seating, especially outdoors.
We will return for sure next time we are in Hood River.Written 20 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. On the first round my wife had a glass of Pinot Gris which was not very complex, the Merlot chosen for her second was much better. I was so happy with my first choice of Big Red that I decided not tempt fate by trying anything else. On the third night in town, a Friday, we sampled 5 wines at another winery, none compared favorably to those at the Pines so returned for glasses of Big Red (me) and Merlot (wife). The servers on both nights were very knowledgeable and pleasant. Additional note: there is live entertainment on Friday night.Written 2 September 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - jaylruNew Plymouth, ID22 contributionsWe enjoyed our experience on 12/23/19. The gal that helped us was filling in for someone that was on her lunch break. I think we got lucky, she was very friendly and informative and the wines we sampled were quite good.Written 26 December 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - avianacres3rjwRoy, WA95 contributionsEli was our pourer and was excellent with information regarding the wines we tasted. He shared his experiences, plus let us try a few not on that morning's flight. However, we left with several cases--the wines were that good.Written 26 August 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - jana71Clackamas, OR77 contributionsCute little winery in historic house, sitting on the top of town. We shared a bottle of Harriette, sat on the porch, and enjoyed the view.Written 8 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Patricia BPortland, OR110 contributionsOur daughter gave us a gift certificate for lunch at HiYu. I always knew she had good taste and lunch confirmed my opinion. HiYu is an organic farm as well as a winery. The center of the tasting room is a large open kitchen allowing hungry, thirsty guests a birds eye view of their meal being prepared.
We shared 6 wines and 6 lovely courses. Each pairing was perfection. As the menu is dependent upon what is harvested in the days before the meal, no menu is published. You can expect lots of veggies, beef, pork, fish, etc.
The wines are expensive. In spite of enjoying most offerings, we passed on purchasing souvenirs.
The service is superb. We learned much about the food we were eating and the wines we drank.

The young lady that served us was knowledgable and professional. Great wine!Written 1 September 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - FullerNSpokane, WA1 contributionMy wife and I visited this small winery and we were initially impressed with all the fruit port. But it pretty much stopped there. I tried a Chardonnay and a Riesling and both seemed fine. But the pinot noir was sour. It was the sourest wine I have ever tried! It reminded me of a Belgian style Flemish sour beer. The Barbera tasted like port wine. You could tell a port barrel was used for this wine. And oxidized!!! Brownest wine I have ever seen. Look, I liked the people there, but it is a piss poor quality controlled setting. I still bought stuff, but I just opened the chardonnay and it had a pretty strong vinegar taste. Wow, how did these guys even get a sign from the local wine organization? Unless you want to try almost 10 different fruit ports don’t bother.Written 4 October 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
