The lunch was great, more than enough food with a good variety. The stops were great and allowed time to get a feel for the area. The comentary was first class and this was suplemented by a very well made video. The whole experience was well woth it! What we liked is the family operated business has been going for over 20 years now and the knowledge and video stories by the family members was extremely well presented and interesting. The morning tea and lunches all made freshly and serve to our seats. The tour guide, Andrea, was really exceptional and he made the tour special. We are vegetarians and even then we could had decent options at each location.
If we had driven on our own, we would not have covered so many places and we would have been bogged down trying to arrange for stays and parking in each spot. The dinner meal tasty and plentiful. Good drink selection at reasonable prices. The river is spectacular and the venture through hello gate a must do. Sarah Island tour very worthwhile and to learn about life prior to Port Arthur was interesting. Overall good value for money and I can't fault anything. UnderDownUnder tours seemed to provide the greatest tour for our needs, and at such a great price! I'm so glad we chose this. We had an amazing guide, Evan, who showed us so many things. He was incredibly knowledgeable and funny, and really knows his coffee! We were definitely the 'seniors' on the tour - three couples in their early 70's - but never felt segregated in any way. 'The Kids,' as we called them (all 20 and 30 somethings) were all so fun and interesting. We had great accommodations in each town we visited, and I know 'the kids' enjoy their hostel experiences as well. His great love for Tasmania was evident and his knowledge of the country was second to none. He took great care to ensure that everyone in our party was well catered for. He kept us well informed all through the trip and took us to see the very best that Tasmania has to offer. - David WPerth, Australia2 contributionsDidn’t want to waste my holiday time in Tasmania trying to work out where to go - so decided to go with Under Down Under Tours - great decision as they took us too some great spots, met some great people (24 on the bus) with excellent accommodation. Both drivers Phil and Justzen are very knowledgeable and entertaining. I went on this trip on my own as a solo backpacker and ended up in a group with older women. But I absolutely loved it.
The activities and hikes can be fitted to the group and their needs. I did all the long hikes on the tour, while the women did some shorter and easier walks.
The tour guide Tim was amazing and was able to answer all questions asked.
We got to see so much of the beautiful island, and learn about the culture and history.

Erin gave us a fantastic run through the history of Pillinger and led us through what is left of the town. The rainforest has taken much of it back including an orchid and white bellied sea eagle as extras.
Des drove Sofia, ably throughout the trip.

Our tour guide, Hayden, was an excellent tour manager and knew when to avoid crowds, etc. He even arranged a group birthday dinner celebration which was quite the occasion! The tour, although we had rain on and off was great. Very educational and not rushed. The food!! Oh the food! It was delicious and generous plus having brought the premium upper deck ticket, allowed you to eat as much as you could fit and drink the same.
