What travellers are saying
- AKDutAnchorage, AK184 contributionsOne of those places you will remember for a long time after you visit. Not your usual surf and sand experience. Wild, magical and haunting. Enjoy and take a moment to look behind the surf and reflect on the extraordinary history of the traditional stewards of this country.Written 9 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - GreenG-R5 contributionsLots of lovely handmade goodies from talented locals. Brand new toilets just down the road. Easy, on street car parking.Written 26 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Jonathan CEgham, UK900 contributionsThis was a little gem to find, and more than just a visitor centre. In addition to information about whats on in the local area, there is a museum (5$ entry fee but some really interesting exhibits, especially if you're interested in local history). In the visitor centre they show a set of short films showcasing local business and food producers, which is free. They also offer cheese and honey tasting experiences, and a robotic dairy tour. Local cheese and honey is also available to buy. On top of all that there is a cafe.
It's located on a roundabout on the Bass Highway so is really easy and convenient to get to.
Overall, great place to stop and visit.Written 13 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There is a car parking area and a wooden platform with nine stairs to take you up to the dirt pathway that winds approximately 200 metres gently uphill until you reach the lookout.
There we enjoyed uninterrupted panoramic views across the buttongrass plains to the interior mountains and hills of the Tarkine.
Worth the slight detour, notwithstanding the state of the road.Written 23 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There is a large free car park and a well constructed concrete viewing platform (15 stairs ). The grassed area around the lookout was well maintained.
The viewing platform afforded us some very good panoramic views of Duck Bay and Perkins Island.Written 23 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - C...Victoria, Australia65,000 contributionsThis is a beautiful memorial park to the Anzacs... the war memorial is here, a lone pine, stories of those who went to war ... all in a small town. There are huge poppies to the entrance area that are delightful.
There are also walks through green lawned landscape. It's quite a scenic area and you do get views. I really enjoyed my walk through Anzac Park.Written 14 February 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SandyDee360Sydney, Australia52 contributionsWe were on a short cruise which included Burnie as a stop. I had so much trouble finding a tour company to take us around on the day as it appears the cruise company books out all the local operators then charges the passengers double. I lucked out and found North West Tasmania Tours. I spoke to Ingrid, told her what we would like to see and do and she put together a great trip around Ashgrove Cheese Factory, an ice cream tasting and a wine tasting and lunch at Ghost Rock Wines. Due to gangway issues we got off the ship later than expected so we had to cancel a second tasting elsewhere due to time constraints. Guide Ingrid and driver Marcus were the best; engaged us all in conversation, they were knowledgeable about their area, genuinely lovely and funny people. We had a ball. I wholeheartedly recommend North West Tasmania Tours for any excursion you’d like to do out of Burnie.Written 24 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
