Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I didn't expect to find Australia's tallest lighthouse on King Island, but there it is, a mighty impressive monument 48 metres high and built in 1861 from locally quarried granite. The lighthouse still operates, though has been automated for many years. It hasn't seen a lighthouse keeper in a 100 years. It is located at the northern tip of KI, an easy drive from Currie and definitely worth a visit. The local coastline and countryside are also very scenic and add to the grandeur of the location.

We booked in at the last minute on our last day on King Island. It turned out to be the highlight of the trip! Our 3 kids had never ridden a horse before. Mick and his wife made sure that they had calm and steady horses as well as provided them with enough instruction so they felt comfortable. We rode to the top of their property and took in the amazing views and also learned about some of the shipwrecks. Again, this was the highlight of our trip and the kids are still talking about the experience. A must do!!!

While Penny's Lagoon is a very rare 'perched' lake (only about three in the world) it is also worth visiting because it is a beautiful, tranquil spot. The lake and its surrounds are a delight and there are good BBQ, picnic and toilet facilities on-site. We had a nice wade in the shallows and the water temp was very tolerable (in March). Not sure how deep it is in the middle - or if you do a circuit walk around the lake. There was no sign to this effect and in parts there was thick vegetation on the water's edge.

Played Ocean Dunes golf links in mid May. The weather could not have been better. The course is magnificent. Tough but fair, plenty of golf balls lost but absolutely worth it to experience this golf course.

Had a lovely lady who knew how to get the most out of our tasting experience. The platter we had was a reflection of our tasting experience preferences. Had a great bottle of wine with the cheese.

First time ever on King Island and on a small tour group, and oh my goodness it was AMAZING! Lucinda, Ian (and Helen) showed us all over this beautiful island and we visited all of the attractions, learning so much thanks to the vast knowledge of our tour guides. Attention to detail couldn't be faulted and every day was made special - so many highlights! It is impossible to pick one standout experience because our stay created an abundance of wonderful memories. From morning tea in a sheltered cove on the beach, beachcombing, gentle walks, 4 wheel driving the dunes, the incredible crayfish lunch, taste testing at King Island Dairy, nature, wildlife, visiting the many historical sites, and seeing the penguins returning home at night - every day was jam packed. And the perfect end to each special day was the most delicious dinner at Wild Harvest. Is there nothing that Lucinda and Ian can't do? Ian's dishes were so tasty, perfectly cooked and beautifully presented, and the ingredients all had a story to tell. Lucinda and Ian's service and attentiveness to guests was both friendly and professional. To say this trip exceeded our expectations is definitely an understatement. We had such a wonderful time and cannot thank Lucinda and Ian enough for our experiences.

Ana has a lovely manner when explaining her history, how she ended up from Portugal to King Island. We were given a clear picture of the beef industry on the island. She and husband Tom run an excellent business and are starting a dynasty. Happy to recommend the visit with her.
