Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I didn't expect to find Australia's tallest lighthouse on King Island, but there it is, a mighty impressive monument 48 metres high and built in 1861 from locally quarried granite. The lighthouse still operates, though has been automated for many years. It hasn't seen a lighthouse keeper in a 100 years. It is located at the northern tip of KI, an easy drive from Currie and definitely worth a visit. The local coastline and countryside are also very scenic and add to the grandeur of the location.

Tucked away in the southwest of King Island in the Seal Rocks State Reserve this is rightly one of the Must Do's on this small island. A short walk (630 meters) from the car park, or about 4km from nearby Seal Rocks Lookout via the signposted Caves Creek Track, the info boards by the Lookout give a great insight into the history of this special formation.
The Calcified Forest is not the same as petrified forests that visitors may be more familiar with.

This is an excellent local museum, locate in the lighthouse keeper's house (1880), one of the most historic buildings in KI. It also occupies a prominent site overlooking the town and its picturesque harbour. In some ways the museum is typical of many small-town museums with many rooms overcrowded with old items. As you might expect for King Island, the information on the island's many shipwrecks is particularly strong, with two 'Shipwreck rooms' including one dedicated to the Cataraqui, wrecked here in 1840 with the loss of 399 lives. It was Australia's worst civil maritime disaster. The shed featuring the original crystal lens from the Cape Wickham lighthouse was another highlight. It was reassembled without any instructions by in its entirety by volunteers. A massive achievement I thought. The museum is definitely worth a look - for an hour or two

We were on a group tour and didn’t have time to get up close to this very interesting looking lighthouse in Currie which overlooks the harbour.
It is actually older than the Eiffel Tower and was made redundant and turned off in 1989.
With much local lobbying the light was reignited in 1995.
It has recently had a make over and it looks like it may soon be used by climbing tours.

Had a lovely lady who knew how to get the most out of our tasting experience. The platter we had was a reflection of our tasting experience preferences. Had a great bottle of wine with the cheese.
