Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Braeken S8 contributionsMust do when you're in the national park! The walk to Wineglass Bay is pretty easy and you'll be rewarded with a stunning view.Written 28 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - geoffdemanserWarrnambool, Australia769 contributionsIt’s a bit of a drive to get into Freycinet but once you’re there is is completely worth it.
The visitor centre is easy to find and the park pass is well worth the donation.
Amazing place to visit. Would love to spend a few days here to really explore.
It was mild when we visited so we even had a wonderful swim at Honeymoon Bay.
Great place. Highly recommendedWritten 20 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Ivanka M40 contributionsAmazing ! This has been on my bucket list for years and finally did it 🙌 we were lucky enough to do it on a perfect spring day. Took us 1.5hrs return to the beach. Not for those that are unfit of have knee or hip issues as lots of steps and uneven walking surfaces. Suitable for kids (tweens/teens -my three did it no issues ) maybe not for little kids. As beautiful as I thought it would be!Written 28 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- John CPerth, Australia68 contributionsThe other reviews are correct, this is not an easy climb. I don’t know when a walk stops being a walk and becomes rock climbing but this must go close in a couple of spots.
As others have said: be sure your shoes have excellent grip, and don’t go if it is even slightly damp.
I took 2.5 hrs up and back. The walk is not difficult until about 3/5 of the way up when there are two sections of rock where you need to use all your upper body strength to help pull yourself up. It goes on like that, on all fours with one slip leading to serious injury or worse, for about forty or fifty vertical metres, then it gets really easy for the remaining third of the climb. On the way down I got a bit cocky and short cutted across a seep of water. There was sliding, there was terror, amd there was a hard landing on my butt. Fortunately only my dignity hurt.
The view is nice, but NOT the postcard view of Wineglass Bay. To get that you need to walk to Wineglass Bay then on and up Mt Freycinet.Written 18 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Suzanne2303Labrador, Australia1,391 contributionsYou drive almost to the lighthouse, so there’s minimal walking required. A boardwalk winds around the lighthouse giving great views of surrounding coastline, and the light house itself.
Lots of parking.
20 minute circuitWritten 24 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - heleneandfamilyMontreal, Canada235 contributionsAbsolutely delicious oysters!!
Tried both the natural ones, the Tasmanian flavored ones and the steamed ones with asian flavor, all top notch!!
However, way too expensive!! At 3$ each is seems really exaggerated considering they culture them next by and there’s no service (the clients do everything)
Too sad, as if not, we’ve been there twice a day;)Written 20 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Worth the walk in - make sure you have good shoes and your insect repellent!Written 31 December 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Shirley CAdelaide, Australia150 contributionsStayed at a beautiful accommodation overlooking Richardsons Beach, took a relaxing walk from the Bay over to the Freycinet Lodge for dinner and drinks.
It was a perfect night and a perfect walk across the sands of the beach picking up shells on our way, would be great for the kidsWritten 11 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - W-Man77Guildford, UK265 contributionsVery informative cruise with plenty to see. The head honcho of the organisation was skipper for this cruise so the commentary contained some personal insights which were great fun. We were lucky to see dolphins, seals, whales and a sea eagle as well as the spectacular coast of the Freycinet Peninsula.
We were booked on the lower deck which had the advantage of external access to the front of the vessel. The only downside was the bento-box lunch which didn't really match the quality of the rest of the offering. That's the only reason for my 4* rating (yes - I know - a bit mean but I do try to reserve 5*s for something that's really really excellent).Written 9 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
