Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Jan T34 contributionsBooked online 3 weeks before our cruise for a standard tasting and tour at $25 per head. We took a local bus no 191 from bus stop A in Cattley Street - 15minutes from the town to the distillary gates. The tour was very informative and interesting. The tasting was also very good. We caught the same bus back. Easy to lookup bus timetable. The cafe looks very nice for a coffee and/or lunch. Lovely, professional staff.Written 8 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Bill RTannum Sands, Australia477 contributionsA unique opportunity to learn more about and observe nature. The little critters, just a bit bigger than a gull, spend all day at sea looking for food and goofing around. Just as it gets dark they come ashore and pick their way across the beach or rocky shore to the nests they have made. Some have chicks waiting for them, hungry chicks, and you can watch the chicks as they wait for Mom & Dad to come home with dinner. Helpful volunteers point out things you can easily miss and tell you about the birds. Make sure you dress warmly.Written 3 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Erin W5 contributionsEverywhere you look is stunning even though not everything was in bloom, the price to get in was reasonable and we had the added bonus of seeing a platypus playing in their lake. You’ll journey through lands on sloping paths (I don’t recall many steps but you’ll have to double check) and end with tea and cake.Written 19 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Anna SAustralind, Australia159 contributionsWhat a fantastic reserve so close to Burnie. The tree frees and their reflection in the river were amazing. The walk was really lovely following emu river.
There were lots of picnic spots and shade grassed areas.
Very picturesque and a credit to Burnie, a great place to go to, especially when it’s windy on the beach.
We didn’t see any platypus, but that didn’t matter.Written 12 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Fascinating !!
If you are in Burnie, give yourself an opportunity to see something out of the past and what life must have been like 120 plus years ago.
Highly Recommended.Written 26 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Burnie Park, a picturesque expanse of rolling green hills, is a tapestry of vibrant flora, including a myriad of tree species, a blooming rose garden, and the vivid hues of rhododendrons. The park's heart beats with the rhythm of Oldaker Falls, cascading into a serene pond where ducks glide effortlessly across the water's surface.
As you wander along the walking trails, the gentle rustle of leaves and the soft chirping of birds accompany your every step, creating a symphony of nature's melodies. The park's music shell stands as a testament to community spirit, hosting events that bring together the sounds of laughter and music under the open sky.
Burnie Park is not just a feast for the eyes but also a haven for the soul. It's a place where memories are made, whether it's a family picnic by the barbecues, children's laughter echoing from the playgrounds, or a moment of reflection at the memorial cenotaph. With facilities accessible to all, including the Liberty Swing, the park ensures that beauty knows no bounds.
This gem of Tasmania is a reminder of the simple joys that life offers—a breath of fresh air, a splash of colour, and the warmth of the community. Burnie Park is more than just a park; it's a celebration of life, nature, and the enduring beauty that surrounds us.

Everything is set up for Covid - you sign in, sanitise and you are free to wander through. The gallery is not a big gallery but I found the artwork inside intriguing. Some of it I really enjoyed ... other pieces made me wonder how the artist thinks. THAT is what I love about art... the differences, the nuances, the uncertainty.

The War Memorial was dedicated in 1924 in recognition of those from the district who died in service or were killed on the battlefield during WW1. It is an inscribed granite obelisk .Nearby is the 100 Years of ANZAC Memorial, two winged walls commemorating the landings at Gallipoli and dedicated in 2015. The walls also acknowledge past and future conflicts which are not recognised on the Cenotaph. A plaque already affixed is dedicated to Corporal Cameron Baird of Burnie who was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2013. He was the 100th Australian to be awarded a Victoria Cross . A ground level inscribed granite slab also r4ecognises his bravery. The 75th Anniversary of Remembrance Day plaque was dedicated in 2015. The National Service Memorial is dedicated to the 287,000men who undertook National Service 1951 - 1972.
