Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- Suzanne2303Labrador, Australia1,388 contributionsThere are quite a few steps to climb up to the top of the lookout, but it was truly worth it for a magnificent view of the narrow isthmus joining North and South Bruny. Beautiful photos! It’s also a penguin rookery, but they are only seen after duskWritten 13 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Prue BBundaberg, Australia185 contributionsShane is an awesome guide. His knowledge of the lighthouse and Bruny Island is extensive. He told us that his grandfather moved to Bruny Island after WW1. It was a beautiful day, which made the tour even more enjoyable. Shane showed us laminated photos depicting extremely rough seas. He also shared some personal photos of a recent aroura taken in November and a white wallaby that regularly visits his home.
It's a lighthouse, so there are definitely steps. Shane brakes up the climb by stopping on a landing below the light. There were only 4 people on our tour. I imagine it's quite tight when there are 10 people. Certainly understand why the tour is limited to 10 people.Written 5 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - william jNewton Aycliffe, UK960 contributionsRough, muddy road with only brief views, but some nice birdlife about and we managed to spot an Echidna by the side of the road.Written 4 April 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - westy54Sydney, Australia13,544 contributionsWe stumbled across this sculpture on the shores of Adventure Bay when we stopped to have a look at the beach.
The sculpture, which was unveiled in 2005, is by the late Matthew Carney who I have read was a local resident.
The sculpture depicts a sperm whale with its calf inside a world globe and seeks to acknowledge "the symbolic relationship that we have with other inhabitants of Earth".Written 5 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
