Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We just went to the lookout as had hiked elsewhere so was not up for the Grand Canyon hike which is a long one. The views are fantastic.

I am local with a 4WD, so the road quality doesn't phase me. having said that, there has been significant improvements done on the 5km of dirt road to the car park for Anvil Rock, to the extent that any 2WD vehicle can easily handle it. No potholes or ruts (as of early January 2024). But another closure for more roadworks is planned for March so check ahead.

The view from Anvil Rock, and indeed from the short walk between the car park and the lookout, is awesome - almost the entire length of the Grose Valley is in view. Once at the lookout itself, which is entirely fenced for safety, you look directly across to the cliff face of Mt Banks, and Mt Hay off to your right (east).

There is an actual anvil on top of the lookout. The original anvil was tossed by brainless hoods into the valley. Good luck in getting its replacement off the ground.

if you make the effort to go, make sure you allow time for the short walk to the Wind-Eroded caves to the west, from the car park. The track has been upgraded. It's only 50 metres.

Thanks to Helen and Vince for create such a beautiful gallery. Works here are stunning and varied, historical and hysterical(some like the dog and kangaroo on the motorcycle.)

Lovely little gallery opposite a beautiful park. The gallery showcases several very talented local artists. There are works on canvas, on paper, ceramics; all very worth looking at. They have one room with seating and LPs playing on a turntable - a little oasis. This shop also does framing; noted some great frames and mounts to choose from. Visiting this gallery is a lovely experience.

This is a one way track, and if you have a pickup at one end it's definitely worth doing. I'd possibly reconsider if I had to walk back to my starting location - its very nice but not the greatest walk I did in the Blue Mountains.
If you don't have a pickup, I would recommend walking from Govetts Leap to the waterfall lookout, then stop there and back to Govetts Leap. The waterfall is amazing, with the water blown back up creating a light rain even in dry weather. Beautiful.

Some of the best lookouts in the Blue Mountains are off the beaten track. Accessible by foot only. It makes it more fun for those who enjoy the challenge. Reasonable level of fitness but worth while.
