The small museum is interesting but I would like to see more boards etc explaining the specific history of the Priory. The ruins can be seen best from outside the Church, from the Heugh and the path to the Heugh. As Cadw members with a reciprocal agreement, this didn't bother us though.

We visited here and just got in before closing time. Weather was horrible, with it being very overcastle and starting to rain.

Free entry for national trust members.

Entrance is very steep and slippery due to the weather.

Nice little castle and now doubt some good views to if it wasn't for the weather.

What a treat. Caught the tide right and went across to Lindisfarne to catch sunrise over the castle. A standout day on our Northumberland trip.

This ancient Church is built on the site of St. Aidan's original chapel. As soon as you enter, you can feel the prayers and worship of hundreds of years. It is a very spiritual place. We first explored the Church on a Friday and went back on the Sunday for a Communion service. The service was lovely, simple, and meaningful. The Church is full of interesting displays and information. The carving of the Journey (monks carrying St Cuthbert's remains) is stunning and moving. There are many different prayer request facilities around the building, some are quite innovative. Would definitely return and recommend.

Being an English Heritage and National Trust joint area, I expected decent toilet facilities but the toilets were the public toilets in the village centre near to the English Heritage ticket office.

I watched with interest, the expressions on various women's faces as they entered after myself and my two daughters. I even offered some hand gel around to save anyone having to go near the sink of terror in the corner.

See photos - they say it better than I can....

A small church which is also used by the Celtic Community for morning services led by Andy. A very interesting experience and a wonderful introduction to the Celtic community here.

We stopped here whilst visiting the castle. It offers wonderful views. I'm not a massive gardener myself, but I think we missed all the flowers being in bloom - that said it was lovely and peaceful.

The remains of a 17th century stone fort, apparently it was built in 1671 to house guns, which helped to protect the small harbour adjacent to it. The fort stands loud and proud over most things and truly importantly over the island. It's a relative short walk to get to and it's well worth the effort just for the views when you get to the top. Free to enter, very informative when inside, on a clear day the views are breathtaking.

The gentleman running the shop is the husband of the artist. Interesting to talk to about her work and also the island.

Its well worth popping in here to have a look around, and lean about the production of Lindisfarne Mead, and other spirits on the island. You also get to sample a few of them before buying. The man in charge was ever so friendly and chatty. Don't leave it too late to buy, as it gets very busy last thing before the tide comes in

The shop is unique both in design and atmosphere. Accurately furnished with a modern touch. It is a rare spot of the island. The staff is very friendly and helpful, they offer tastes of their wonderful gin. Perfect for gifts ideas (the also sell wonderful scented candles)
