We had a wonderful time at Fox Creek Wines. 6 of us did a tasting hosted by Clare. We loved all the wines and we loved Clare! We had such a good time that we returned for the Silver Fox Friday lunch and thoroughly enjoyed that too. Everything about this place is good — the wines, the lovely staff, the beautiful setting. We highly recommend Fox Creek Wines.

    Velvet Glove Experience
Ahhh… Mollydooker… you never disappoint. We joined a small group Velvet GloveExperience. Warmly welcomed by Clive doing his first tour. Beautiful setting overlooking the vines, followed by a tour through the winery with fabulous views over the winery and surrounding McLarenVale district. Premium tasting of the full range of gorgeous wines, large platter of local produce. A wonderful 3 hours spent with Clive and left with a boot full of the best wine McLaren Vale has to offer!

We did a run down to McLaren Vale just for a poke around to see some of the wineries. We had had d'Arenberg put the hard word onto use for an entry fee (even before a civil hello), then been over to Coriole already (another delight, and review coming) and were in the mood for a tasting and something light to eat. It was suggested that we might want to try Wirra Wirra, and so we popped into the car for the short drive there and were so pleasantly surprised when we got there.

Their facility is a lovely setting overlooking the vines, with a huge grassed area and both indoor and outdoor tasting tables. We thought we'd match our tasting with a platter for lunch and were blown away when the platter arrived. So much good local produce, and the pate was amazing.

Jacob was looking after us, and his knowledge was superb. Tied to his easy conversation style, it made for an extremely enjoyable few hours.

We had our pups with us, and after we finished eating we went and got them and they joined us at our outdoor table while we finished a glass of our fav wine from the day, and followed it up with some great tea and coffee.

All the staff were attentive and friendly, so all in all just a great afternoon out.

(Please note: Tripadvisor forced us to answer about a tour. We did not do a tour at all, just the tasting and platter. Making that a required answer is just ridiculous on their part when a venue doesn't only do tours.)

This place is wonderful in every way. Not only is it a beautiful property, but Lorina made our experience truly memorable. She took care of us as if we were family, spending time explaining all of the wines to us with joy and enthusiasm. The “first run” olive oil is truly extraordinary. And each wine was better than the last. This is a gem in McLaren Vale and I would return to the area simply for this winery. Our favorite place of the trip!

Unlike other "famous" wineries of the region Samuels Gorge is un pretentious BUT that is what makes it stand out as probably the best representation of McLaren Vale, its people, wine and history.

Sitting within a fantastic location - the stunning natural Onkaparinga gorge on one side and a full view of the McLaren Vale region on the drive in. The rustic cottage holds artifacts, comfortable seating and historic stories making it a place to stay a while. The gardens are beautiful with seating on the verandah, green grass areas and the stunning view.

We had planned a day touring the area with overseas cruise visitors and selected Samuels Gorge as 1 of 2 tastings for the day. We spent a leisurely 1.5hrs within a rustic tasting room being pleasantly attended to by the two cellar door staff. As well as doing there job they were happy to chat, answer questions - they really added to the whole experience. Our visitors so happy to have met them and the stories they had.
The wine tasting was enjoyed by all and being able to purchase bottles with the tasting cost deducted from the cost was a bonus.

We have been 3 times since 2013 and will certainly try to make it in more often from now on.

The welcome was friendly even without a booking. The restaurant was full of people and inviting. Rare to find coffee, lunch, snacks and wine tasting on offer. Just lovely views of the vines with games outside on the lawn and picnic blankets to borrow. Wines were well explained.

We had a beautiful experience at DogRidge. After going to a number of wineries and needing to book tastings, have it be a formal set amount of time, costly etc, we were stoked to come across this winery where everything is far more relaxed and casual. This is how we remember doing wine tasting when we were here a number of years ago and the experience is so much more fun and personalised. Mandy was fantastic!!! My husband sampled the red wines as I'm pregnant so wasn't able to and he loved the majority of them! Mandy didn't rush us, gave us space to try the range, but also was up for a chat. We ended up purchasing a number of bottles to be sent back home, more than what we had at other wineries who seem to have tried to make tastings an "experience" but it becomes so commercialised. We love how authentic and family run DogRidge is.
Thank you so much for a lovely afternoon. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves & I can't wait to try the reds next July!

Platter with glass of wine was first class, very relaxing as sometimes it is nice to be somewhere not large and busy. Staff were very attentive and friendly.

A relaxed, attractive space, looking out over the countryside from a covered patio area. The information given on the beers was knowledgeable. The tasting was a good mix of interesting ales. We came away with a very good selection. While in the area mainly for wine tasting, this was a very good addition.
