What an amazing place to visit! I really didn't know what to expect. My daughter had been here and really wanted me to see it. We decided to make it an overnight stay and I'm glad we did. There are so many things to see in the Granite Belt you really need to allow yourself time to explore it all. Girroween National Park and Bald rock were worth the walk for the views.
Fair warning though, if you have mobility issues, be prepared for a long trek up to the top and leave early enough in the day that you don't have to trek back in the dark

Out of the way and feeling a little lost but was worth the Bush track. Such a beautiful view of the granite belt and lots of fun squeezing through the rock outcrops.

Lovely little Visitor Center with friendly staff. I appreciated how clean it was as this is not always the case with some I have seen around Queensland.
I love the setting for this center beside a lovely little park with the Big Thermometer in it.
A great little place to pick up some brochures and information about local 'must see' places.
Worth stopping of at when you are in town.

I highly recommend you visit Warren and Sue at Pyramid Road Wines. As someone who didn’t know a lot about winemaking, we left with a wealth of knowledge thanks to Warren. He was a friendly person to chat to and the wine we tried was wonderful. We will certainly be back next year. Great day!

Where to start? This place is amazing! I am a self-confessed Christmas nut and had high expectations which were exceeded by the Christmas Farm. They had me from the drive where the names of all Santa’s reindeer hang from the trees. then you arrive and there are wooden signs, some of Santa’s animals (which you can feed after you buy food from the shop), garden ornaments, a fire pit, and, finally, the shop. I walked in and it was everything I hoped it would be and more. There were floor to ceiling shelves of everything Christmas from ornaments to napkins and everything in between. It was colourful with a great variety of items and various price points. The staff are lovely. There’s a cafe for food and drinks (and ice cream) and the tables have vases of handpicked flowers on each. It’s all beautiful and well worth a visit.

A good place to visit for a lovely Lavender scone and coffee. The Lavender wasn't flowering while we were there. Plenty of Lavender products for sale. A warning though, the drive from Stanthorpe is quite a long one, even crossing back into the good old state of NSW

This is a must do/see if you are in the area! We had visited the smaller shop in Montville but it pales in comparison to what they have here. The variety of Wines, liqueurs an Spirits is really remarkable!

Of course you can't visit without sampling some of the products. The fruit and spice flavours are nice, I especially like the chocolate liqueurs.
The staff were very friendly and helpful despite being there on a very busy weekend.

I like some of the quirky names of the products like their Dragon's line (Dragon's blood, Dragon Piss etc..) although I believe those are somewhat spicy and wouldn't be my taste.

Take your time looking around and be prepared to have your taste buds tantalized, you will be glad you did.

This museum is much more than old tea sets, linen, kitchen utensils, war memorabilia and farming equipment. There's musical instruments, a section dedicated to medical equipment, an old fire engine and first hand stories about government programs supposedly designed to help early selectors.
The most interesting thing I found was the shed with all the 'home made' farming implements, including a tractor! Many locals were ingenious at recycling simple things like syrup and fruit cans along with sugar and flour bags.

Best reds on the Granite Belt. Grant the wine maker, a retired chemical engineer, is meticulous. Premium wines so don't be put off by the price.

In September 2021 my wife and I enjoyed a very pleasant one week stay in the Granite Belt region of Queensland staying in the delightful Fergies Hill Spa Cottage located in the Granite Ridge Winery at Ballandean, very near to the Queensland/New South Wales border on the Queensland side.

Our plan for this one week stay was to visit lots of Granite Belt wineries and enjoy the many tourist attractions in the area.

Ballandean is 20 kilometres south, south west of Stanthorpe (the main town in the Granite Belt) and is 240 kilometres south –west of Brisbane, about a 3 hour’s drive away.

On our first full day after we arrived at the Cottage, we took a drive into Stanthorpe to get some meat and grocery items to cook meals ourselves in the Cottage, which is fully self contained. Before doing our shopping we took a short 5 minute drive up to the Mount Marley Lookout from the town centre, where we were able to get some fabulous panoramic views of the town of Stanthorpe.

There is a fenced off area at the top of the summit with two large highly magnified binoculars provided, which were free of charge to let visitors pinpoint certain landmarks more easily. There were picnic tables with seating and visitors can enjoy a short walk around the summit, which follows a narrow concreted path through the trees. This walk is very scenic.

There were quite a number of visitors up on the summit when we visited, which demonstrated the Lookout’s popularity.

This is a must do for visitors to Stanthorpe to get a different perspective of this charming, enterprising town.

We visited this winery as part of our weekend away. We knew nothing about it before going there. Our host was very pleasant and friendly and knowledgeable about their wines. The view out over the lake is amazing. We sampled and purchased their Verdhello and we would highly recommend it. This winery is well worth visiting and their wines are good value.

The exhibitions here are always varied and appealing, from photos and paintings to sculpture. It's a good size for a break too, if you're passing through town.
