Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- SuperDuper CoachMitcham, Australia205 contributionsSpectacular walking track especially the portion on the beach.
See other reviews for details of tide requirements etc.
We did the walk in 2.5 hours, on a muggy 28 degree day.
Saw two snakes. No crocs. No cassowaries. No insects.
Trail is good, well marked, no real opportunity to go the wrong way. A little bit overgrown in a couple of small sections.
Requires that you ascend multiple sets of 10-20 stairs, multiple times.
If you want a great bang for buck walk, stop at the end of lugger bay and turn back. After lugger there is a lookout and Kennedy bay, and the walk becomes a bit more of a slog and lugger bay is the better bay.
Aside from beaches, the number 1 thing to do in mission beach.Written 20 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - WorldTravla7Cairns, Australia8,597 contributionsI loved this walk but it’s through cassowary territory (I saw 2 fresh scats) so I was a bit trepidatious about disturbing one of these giant birds up close - hence I was a bit distracted during the walk!
There are fan palms galore on the 1.2km walk (the orange fruit is eaten by the cassowary) and Mission Beach has 50% of the remaining fan palm forest in all of Australia. For this reason alone, the walk is worth seeking out. There is a nice boardwalk at the end and lots of interpretive signage explaining the plants & fauna.
To get there, you take a short 1km drive on unsealed road off Tully-Mission Beach Rd into a beautiful secluded location. A short children’s walk is adjacent which includes some fake cassowary footprints & eggs!Written 13 April 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
