This tour was an amazing experience. We were picked up at our hotel by our driver and tour guide Chris, and taken to our first stop of the day, breakfast at Gillies, about an hour from Cairns. One of the things that we liked about the tour was that distances between stops were short, and there were rest stops at every one. Chris is a great driver and guide, and his commentary was very informative, and he didn’t try to hurry us at each stop. Each stop was timed pretty well, except that Gilliie’s was not ready for us, although there was a reserved sign on our table for 9:15, and we arrived before that. The food was very good though. The rest of the tour went off without a hitch, and we loved all of the tasting samples. Lunch was very good. Really enjoyed the kangaroo skewers and prawns. The platypus were a no-show, but you can’t expect wild creatures to show up on demand. The gin at the distillery was very good. Large selection, including a liquor made from blue agave, which resembled tequila, but they can’t call it that because that is a Mexican product. We finished up with ice cream, and got back to our hotel on time. I’ve taken many other food and wine tours in Australia, and this is one of the best. Highly recommended
