The Bay Hospital was a great visit. The tour is very informative and you get to see lots of bats. Definitely recommend if you are in the area.

Lovely forests, beautiful countryside, good stargazing, tree kangaroos, forest dragons, flying fox, and even saw a wild platypus! What an amazing place. Very sorry to miss the bat hospital but did see someone (trained and official) walking through the forest rescuing any bat that was ill. She had secured one and was continuing her search. So glad to see someone caring so much for these wonderful sky puppies. What an amazing area this is!

This is an insane waterfall lots of little spots to stop and admire along the way! There are leeches so I would beware and bring along some long socks. The hike to the falls is great, I’d probably say leave the kids and oldies at home as it can get a little sketchy on some parts especially if you go after it rains

As a first tine visitor this rainy day activity offers a real surprise for anyone interested in culture, history and architecture as well as enjoying remnants of the site digs.

The museum is small bit packed full of artefacts of the site and area presented in easy to read and understand format for a nominal entry fee.
A great rainy day activity & introduction for us to early Atherton life.

As a national trust site and one of only 3 wood and iron temples in existence outside of Chinese mainland this site deserves much more recognition and support.

All access with plenty of street parking for small and larger RV travellers, a walkabout and guided tour is included in one price or take a tour of museum & site only if time is limited.
    NB: Also accepting Seniors discounts.
The temple is a must see.

The volunteer guide is knowledgeable and gave us a great insight into early life on the tablelands and Atherton by the Chinese on the site. Highly recommended

After visiting a cheese factory that doesn’t give out samples, this small little stall was the exact opposite! We were encouraged to try their nuts before buying which of course resulted in us leaving with a number of purchases. Well done ladies, great friendly service!

A stop that wasn't planned but eventually appreciated. It's a clean, well laid out and modern cafe, where you can buy strawberries, strawberry products.

and Ice cream. It was a hot day and we sat outside with the best ice cream we have yet had.

    A must.

I have travelled and camped extensively around Australia and I keep getting drawn back to this place as maybe the best in the country. One qualifier.....the capacity has to be high, otherwise it is desolate and disappointing. Currently it is at 100% and I have not seen it better. Make the most of the current levels and take in the view of the water being discharged from the top and bottom of the dam wall, it will take your breath away !!!!
Good to see the facilities continuing to be enhanced, with shower enclosures being added to some camp areas for BYO camp shower users, great innovation that I have not seen anywhere else !!!

Nice 2.2k hike up, steep in places but very rewarding at the end! Beautiful views across Atherton and surrounding areas. Highly recommended

We popped in and Dennis? marked up a map for us and made a range of suggestions of things to see. We followed his advice - more specific than the tourism websites - and saw various wonderful places over the next couple of days.

Hasties Swamp, not far out of Atherton, is home to one of the best bird-hides I have ever seen. I visited late afternoon one day and liked it so much came back at dawn the next morning. The hide has two levels and provides excellent views across and up and down the swamp. Heaps of water birds to be seen. Bring binoculars but there is also plenty going on immediately in front of and either side of the hide. Lots of ducks including both Plumed and Wandering whistling ducks, egrets, coots, cormorants, a few spoonbills and a single pelican. At least one Forest Kingfisher too. If you like birds, you're sure to like Hasties Swamp.

Came across wild pigs, flocks of parakeets and leeches which dropped from the trees , absolutely loved this challenge to the summit and back in 7 hrs. This was 26 years ago - 1993

The park is close to The Station Cafe and teh Chinese Temple, so I recommend visiting all three when you're there. I didn't see any platypus, but there was plenty of birdlife and it was a nice walk around the parklands. There are BBQ facilities and a playground as well for the kiddies.
