Unexpectedly amazing. A bit of a hidden gem this place, anyone with any interest in wildlife will love it.
A guided tour of the "hospital" in small groups with as close an encounter as you will get with a range of local bat species. A discussion of the work that the hospital does in rescuing, rehabilitating and releasing injured and ill bats led by a knowledgable staff member.
    Highly recommended.

Lovely forests, beautiful countryside, good stargazing, tree kangaroos, forest dragons, flying fox, and even saw a wild platypus! What an amazing place. Very sorry to miss the bat hospital but did see someone (trained and official) walking through the forest rescuing any bat that was ill. She had secured one and was continuing her search. So glad to see someone caring so much for these wonderful sky puppies. What an amazing area this is!

This is an insane waterfall lots of little spots to stop and admire along the way! There are leeches so I would beware and bring along some long socks. The hike to the falls is great, I’d probably say leave the kids and oldies at home as it can get a little sketchy on some parts especially if you go after it rains

I have travelled and camped extensively around Australia and I keep getting drawn back to this place as maybe the best in the country. One qualifier.....the capacity has to be high, otherwise it is desolate and disappointing. Currently it is at 100% and I have not seen it better. Make the most of the current levels and take in the view of the water being discharged from the top and bottom of the dam wall, it will take your breath away !!!!
Good to see the facilities continuing to be enhanced, with shower enclosures being added to some camp areas for BYO camp shower users, great innovation that I have not seen anywhere else !!!

After visiting a cheese factory that doesn’t give out samples, this small little stall was the exact opposite! We were encouraged to try their nuts before buying which of course resulted in us leaving with a number of purchases. Well done ladies, great friendly service!

What a wonderful surprise to discover this fascinating historical site in Atherton. Such an interesting little museum.about the local Chinese community. The temple and gardens were beautiful despite visiting on a wet morning, and the lady at the desk was extremely friendly and welcoming.

The park is close to The Station Cafe and teh Chinese Temple, so I recommend visiting all three when you're there. I didn't see any platypus, but there was plenty of birdlife and it was a nice walk around the parklands. There are BBQ facilities and a playground as well for the kiddies.

Hasties Swamp, not far out of Atherton, is home to one of the best bird-hides I have ever seen. I visited late afternoon one day and liked it so much came back at dawn the next morning. The hide has two levels and provides excellent views across and up and down the swamp. Heaps of water birds to be seen. Bring binoculars but there is also plenty going on immediately in front of and either side of the hide. Lots of ducks including both Plumed and Wandering whistling ducks, egrets, coots, cormorants, a few spoonbills and a single pelican. At least one Forest Kingfisher too. If you like birds, you're sure to like Hasties Swamp.

Great for kids, it was quite busy already but there was plenty of parking. The staff are friendly.
Bring a hat as no shade. We didn’t go near the cafe as it was busy.

Came across wild pigs, flocks of parakeets and leeches which dropped from the trees , absolutely loved this challenge to the summit and back in 7 hrs. This was 26 years ago - 1993

Nice 2.2k hike up, steep in places but very rewarding at the end! Beautiful views across Atherton and surrounding areas. Highly recommended
