Was a wonderful place, very busy but quiet at the same time. Took our dog with us and had a lovely walk around the lake, toilets and picnic seating available which is great.
    Would definitely come back.

My Uncle and I met in Daylesford for lunch... and after spending time at the Convent for hours, he turned to me and said..."So what else is Daylesford hiding?" . It turns out that in all the years that he had been coming to Daylesford, he had never really left the Main Street going through town. I suggested the mills and he told me that I had the town wrong that they were in Castlemaine ( we had visited them in 2021). I laughed and said, "not exactly"... so off we went.

The Mills have car parking at them and it was well utilised- I imagine on their busy days that it would overflow. It is a fairly modern building. There is also a cafe at the Mills. There is no entry fee.

It's a place of wonderland when you enter as you enjoy a visual feast of knick knacks, thingamajigs, whatchamacallits, gizmos, doohickeys, thingamabobs and doohickeys. It is a mix of old and new, shiny and rusty, bizarre and normal, quirky and conventional, tacky and tasteful.

You can spend as much, or as little time as you like at the mills... and they will speak to each individual differently... we both left with greeting cards- they offered an interest variety. Staff here are great- really friendly and interactive.

Relaxing walk through the grounds. The Begonias were out in flower and looking great. The Wombat Hill House is within the grounds and provides lovely food

Station where the tourist railway runs. Please check ahead for when it is in operation. They also have a Sunday market here.

The gallery has an eclectic range of art works, and you can probably find something to suit your taste. Reading a previous comment that the gallery is pricey, maybe the writer did not take into account that these items are not mass produced by a machine but individually crafted by the artist. The shop does have limited hours which can be annoying.

This information centre has great local information from helpful staff. The team provide up to date details on all the local happenings. Plenty of maps and information to take away. First place to visit when you arrive in the region.

Fantastic spot. Great service, food and beverages including, of course, cider. Try the tasting paddle to enjoy a variety of ciders. But there's also great beer and wine. Four of us shared the tasting plate and then three wood fired pizzas. All fantastic and great value. Highly recommended. Of, also dog friendly. What more can you ask for.

Imagine something bizarre- blink- it's there! Imagine something tastefully decorative- blink - it's there! Imagine something that makes you go 'hmmm' - blink -it's there!

This is not an " I dream of Jeannie" moment where there is a genie to grant you every wish! This is real life. The window has a rainbow coloured rhinoceros, there are coloured bulldogs sitting on a shelf, guitar art, bizarre doll art ( decapitated dolls come to this store for a new life :) ) ... but there are also some beautiful and exquisitely tasteful pieces of furniture.

This store is worth wandering into because it's going to take your imagination on an adventure. The prices are quite reasonable.

Mineral spring near Lake Daylesford. Daylesford is known for its many springs and spas of which this is one of the main ones.

What a phenomenal experience we had at the Wombat Forrest, a hidden gem amongst the Australian bushland and the service was on point!!!

We were greeted upon arrival as we walked into the venue, we decided to sit outside on this warm autumn day on the deck which overlooked the native bushland.

As we were seated, the cellar door staff member brought us over some water and then asked if we would like to do a wine tasting.

Well of course, we decided to do a wine tasting, what a better way to explore local wines but through our taste buds. We were given wine tasting notes, some history of the vine yard and even a personal recommendation of the cabernet rose being the cellar door staff member choice of wine.

After enjoying our wine tasting, we decided to have a glass of wine each to enjoy with the cheese platter, another winner for us. You cannot beat a cheese platter with wine, but this cheese platter was delicious the produce was sourced locally and, we particularly fancied the blue vein cheese.

Every where we looked, we could feel the warmth, passion and knowledge that the owners had put in to their venue. We particularly loved the beautiful pictures displayed on the wine barrels, as we were looking at the photos the cellar door staff member shared that the images were taken by the owner Deidre, representing the different seasons of the vineyard.

After a wonderful afternoon, it was time for us to head back to the big smoke but not without purchasing a couple bottle of wine. We decided on a bottle of the cabernet rose and a bottle of cabernet sauvignon.

We look forward to returning to Wombat Forest Vineyard, and we definitely will be bringing our family and friends to experience the ambiance of this winery.

If you want to see an Australian time capsule you won’t be disappointed with this venue!
The secretary welcomed us on arrival.
From the true Australian outback stories, including bush ranging accounts to one of Australia’s most iconic landmark buildings is a fascinating insight to what a slice of this country is made of. Plan to spend some hours there with Ian’s enthralling you with heaps of information. Time well spent! ( surprise yourself and learn a lot of and including some unknown Australia culture and history).

My wife and I walked up the old, dark and narrow staircase to the top to enjoy the views. At the time of our visit on a Tuesday afternoon, there was no one else at this place. Which was very good for social distancing.

If there were other people going up or down the stairs, we would have avoided it because the stairs are so narrow that there would not be much space for two way traffic.
