Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Entry fee required on top of camp fee . Its worth getting an annual pass if you camp regularly. RAC members get discounts on annual park pass .

The centre is located just outside Dwellingup and with it's outside profile sat sympathetically in the bush setting. For a small entrance fee you can learn about the history of forest through an interpretive display, enjoy the beautiful hand crafts from local artists and walking trails that are well signed. A very peaceful spot with the advantage of hearing and seeing some of the local bird life.

The FHC houses a fine art gallery, retail shop of local artisans work, a forest interpretive centre, walking trails with education signage and a full equipped workshop for hire.

A walk through the forest on a misty rainy afternoon allowed is to experience a reflection from over 80 years ago, still evident in and amongst the trees.
We wandered around the site, recognising the different areas now marked with a series of interpretive signs explains withe picture .
You may like to refer to the map (image enclosed) and if you are intrepid you can walk to the site from the near-by Mountain Bike car park (approx 20 minutes walk).

South Dandalup Dam was built in the early 1970s to supply drinking water to supply the city of Perth. In the early 1970s, Western Australia was undergoing a major growth phase, and water was scarce. The earth-filled dam has stood the test of time; it's now a popular recreation area for the people of Perth. The dam is 43 meters (141 feet) tall. The South Dandalup Dam is only 6 km (4 miles) from the historic forest town of Dwellingup. The South Dandalup Dam project was my first job after leaving high school. South Dandalup is hot in summer and cold in winter.

Wow this place is awesome, the skate park and pump track are in the middle of town. Brink your, scooter, skateboard or mountain bike. The rest of Dwellingup is a great outdoors place with walk trails, bush bike trails and 4WD tracks and loads of camping and cute places to stay for the week, I have three grandchildren 3, 10 & 12 years old and they absolutely loved the pump park and skate track. Even their parents and grand parents (us) had a go. It is such a wonderful fun place to be and to see so many children out enjoying the outdoors and breathing fresh air. Only an hour from Perth!!!!

The bikes are excellent quality and the service is fantastic. This is our 3rd time hiring bikes to explore Dwellingup and we were not disappointed. We are a family of 4, with 2 young girls, 8 & 11. Great advice from the staff. The bikes are fantastic for all ages.

Located about 6km out of Dwellingup (an easy ride along the Munda Biddi bike trail) this 8km loop includes easy to moderate trail features (all the harder ones have alternate routes around the obstacle) running along a mix of fire roads and single track. My wife who is a complete novice on a MTB did it and really enjoyed it. Just go as fast or slow as you need to feel comfortable. Suitable for kids who have good bike handling skills.

Such a joyful and peaceful place to visit for a casual drink. It’s tucked away amongst the beautiful trees and they have emus and kangaroos jumping out the back. It’s spacious on the inside with lots of different table choices. There is a patch of grass for kids to run around on while the adults watch on.
When we arrived the bartender was a cheerful and bright person. She gave her suggestions and recommendations on the alcohol and then the old bartender offered to take our drinks down to the seating area which was nice. The alcoholic lemonade was by far the favourite with us and is a must try! There grazing platters looked really good and popular. We hope to be back soon

As one of Australia's very few steam trains left that are consistently running, I would take this once in a lifetime opportunity as who knows what the future holds for this old relic of the past.

It takes roughly 40 minutes to drive south from Perth through Jarrahdale down to Hotham but it is a nice drive through some forestry. The valley itself is quite old but still caters to family outings and there is a lot of open space for family picnics as well as littered cafes and pubs.

The check in was fairly straight forward and has some memorabilia and history displays to check out before boarding.

The ride itself is quite boring once the novelty of riding a steam train wears off. The track leads into the woods and makes a brief stop in the middle of nowhere before moving from the back end to the front end to reverse the trail. A quick photo and video opportunity and you're back on board for the return trip.

Be prepared as the train will frequently stop as it does have some struggle going uphill a little bit and you also get quite a bit of blowback from the coal.

Overall, definitely a rare novelty and one I would highly recommend. The full ride goes for about 40 or so minutes so enjoy it. I sure did.
