Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Such an amazing place and the guided tour was excellent. I do hope the place is preserved for the future. Highly recommend the tour.

My husband always wanted to visit Aradale and I organised this during lockdown. We visited last Saturday night. We met our guide at the correct gate, at the time allocated, for the start of out 4 hour tour.
Our guide bright, bubbly and knew her subject - so the visit was very informative.
Aradale is enormous, with a lot of grounds and buildings to be explored. We were issued with some lamps, and given some safety rules. This place is not being restored, so some areas are not available to the public.
We enjoyed our visit, but it has a very sad history. There are magnificent buildings and rooms to be seen, it is a shame, that some of them, are not being restored and reused.
Some advice for people to consider before committing to the four hour night tour, especially if you are in the seniors age group (which we are).
Make sure you wear flat comfortable shoes.
Are physically able to walk around this facility for the four hours in the dark. There are a lot of stairs and grounds that are quite rough in parts and it is very dark.
    Bring your own torch.

We will be back to do the day visit.

wasnt really sure what to expect, even though we did look at lots of reviews. Was so pleased we drove all the way from Melbourne (and back). The staff were really friendly and helpful. There was no dramatic monologues or creepy stories to instill fear , just interesting stories and a very supportive host who encouraged people to use her equipment and take photos. We had never actually done a ghost tour before and were a bit apprehensive but we had a great time. I had a go with dowsing rods and they moved about alot. The complex is amazing and very emotive, so we didnt need any gimmicks that you hear some other tours use. Totally recommend and would go again and am keen to do more tours, we are hooked.
