Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Walked the main street of Truro and learnt a lot. Never realised it was a halfway point between the City and the Murray, but now I do. Will now look at it differently when I travel through the town

This park is on the Main Street going through town and is directly opposite the war memorial. I stopped to look at the memorial and crossed a very busy road to walk across to it.

Whilst it is a pioneer park with sheltered picnic table and a fenced playground... what I noticed is the garden memorial to the war. The garden has rosemary and roses around it. There is a statement sculpture with the words , "Lest we forget" on it.

There is a small carpark area to the back of the park if you cannot get street parking. It is a good location to break from travelling.

This is a white marble statue of a soldier standing at attention surmounted on a pedestal and a two-tier base and slab. The monument is enclosed within a four steel post and single rail low fence.

It commemorates those from the District who died in service or were killed in action in World War One and World War Two.

It also lists the names of two soldiers Privates Burnett and Wuttke who drowned after they returned home from World War One.

The names of those who who died in service or were killed in action in World War Two were added at a later date.

It is located on the main town going through the town, so this will only take you a few moments to stop at... it is quite humbling to see the effect of war on a small town.

Every town has a way to memorialize those of that community that have paid the ultimate price in fields of war. Truro has established a bushland-based Heroes Park. Set away from the main road, the seclusion and quietness provide a natural setting in which to contemplate.

With a simple area dominated by a flag pole and rocks with plaques commemorating some of the locals including a Lance Corporal Albert F Binning – “the first man from Truro to enlist, the only Truro man at the Gallipoli landing and the first to pay the supreme sacrifice from Truro.” With the first trees planted in 1915 and later upgraded, the Heroes Park is simple yet strangely moving.

The Heroes Park is also the site of the local time capsule buried during Truro’s Jubilee 150 celebrations in 2000. The capsule is scheduled to be opened in 2020.

With a simple gazebo type structure, a basic playground and eating areas, Heroes Park is suited for recollections both communal and personal.

The park is linked by a bridge over the creek bed to War Memorial Park and to the statue of Memorial in the main street outside the Truro Town Hall.

Return? Probably not, but I can never say never on this one.

LOVE this wonderful little Truro gem ❤

The best and only place to buy beautiful antique and estate jewellery. All pieces are of extremely high quality at very reasonable prices.

Bric a Bank is also filled with lovely little curios and great little collectables, again at great prices.

So highly recommended and definitely worth you stopping by.
