Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Humingbird572Sydney, Australia1 contributionWe went there last weekend with kids. There were very few visitors. So the cafe was closed. The exhibitions remained the same for ages. The kids' indoor play area smelled really bad with the new rubber.Written 25 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jamie31 contributionsI wanted to say a big thank you, to the staff at the RAAF Base in Amberley. I spent a fantastic morning out there yesterday, and was honoured and humbled by our tour guide, who gave us a personal tour of the museum. He was a returned serviceman from Vietnam, so insightful and I clung onto every word he said. I found out at the end of the tour, that he had been on two of the aircraft during the Vietnam war. At times, I was surprised at how emotional I became, thinking about him and others he served with, some of which he had told me had lost their lives in the war.
Not all of it was emotional though. The staff that we interacted with were really friendly and hilariously funny, cracking dry joke after dry joke, which is totally my sense of humour. From the time we checked in, to the time we were escorted out of the gate, every single member of staff were polite and welcoming. You all do an amazing job and I thank you all for your service.
I absolutely recommend this tour. It’s something completely different from my every day life and it blew me away. Absolutely worth the trip to Amberley. Thank you so much everyone for a wonderful day.Written 12 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The tape tunnel was extremely well thought out and constructed. So many places to explore. Pity it’s closing soon but get there if you can.Written 13 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - KohaKitschIpswich, Australia261 contributionsLots of love and attention to detail from several volunteer groups that make up this organisation.
Spinners and Weavers and the Genealogical Society are bothed housed in vintage historical cottages relocated to this lovely property.
For locals and visitors there are regular changing exhibitions, you can view restorations, recent works and even attend talks on specific subjects of interest.
A detailed display of the Coal Mines is vast and engaging, this was a main industry in Ipswich over many decades and generations.
Recommend this to locals and visitors, very enjoyable and accessible displays and images.Written 29 March 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Well presented building with story boards to explain the significance and history of the location. The stop at this destination enhanced the overall train trip and developed an interest in driving the Cobb & Co tourist route to learn more about this part of the world.Written 9 July 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Matt JRoyal Wootton Bassett, UK3,317 contributionsVisited on a Saturday hoping to visit the museum as well as the garden. The museum was closed, however, I was able to view the gardens. They are very well maintained with memorials to fallen soldiers from different conflicts. It is not large but is a perfect memorial to those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.Written 26 May 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Francis DIpswich, Australia139 contributionsGet a parking spot. NOT FREE in the place. Busy traffic noise in the garden so don't take a coffee. The place is opposite the Civic Centre which is a shamble from the Whitlam days. I was pleased to see the displays but was interested in the young guys who went off in the old steam train from Ipswich to Europe to fight for the King? God? and Australia? The RSL days are over. They became too W.W.II orientated and they needed to bring the Korean and the Vietnam war people in to the fold. It was there before the North Ipswich Pokies took over any memorial / lasting legacy. It's just another Den like the Football show over the road. I was keen to see if the locals were spirited about bringing young into the fold to have a future? Interesting place if you have time.Written 3 September 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Liz WBrisbane, Australia33 contributionsCassie and the team stock an amazing array of art supplies. The gallery showcases local artists, which is great and we enjoyed browsing the rare dolls collection that they have there.
