Perfect family ski vacation. Kids went from zero to competent in 3 days. Mountain was not crowded at all. Conditions were great. Definitely enough great restaurants to keep you happy for a short stay.

Shout out to Lana for teaching our 6 year old - she was just a perfect fit. Like having the kindergarten teacher teach your kid to ski.

And shout out to Tyler for teaching the boys. They couldn’t get enough and made incredible progress.

    Cool location.
They had a discount since they were doing construction along the walk.
You still got great views and had access to the nature walk.
I still felt the price was a little high, but we did have a great time.
Staff were friendly, great little gift shop and the cafe had good iced lattes !

Based on a Thursday morning visit in August on a nice but hazy day (from Canadian wildfires). It’s a beautiful though harrowing drive. Parking at the top is a little tricky but once there, the sights and experience are well worth it. The elevator to the summit was out of order, but this was perhaps a godsend because the wait would have been a nuisance. Instead, my family went as far as the top of the stone stairs; I continued on scrambling over boulders to the very top. It was a rewarding climb despite the visibility being far from maximum.

The place has changed significantly from last year, a change in licensing rules does not allow them to have most wild animals in their care any more for now. Their work for now is as a refuge for animals whose owners could not take care of any more. There are goats, a large snake and tortoise, several lizards. They also care for two large eagle owls, a Saker falcon and a Magpie Jay. All that complimented by very informative and personal stories by Steve, an avid animal advocate and book author. Very well worth a visit, also after the changes.

We spent multiple days here since it was in walking distance to our place we were staying. It was small but perfect. The playground right on the beach was perfect. We swam, fished, played. There was some live music one night and had a great time listening. Must do!

It was a great day to take a ride up Whiteface Mountain. Be prepared it's a little pricey, $22 per adult, 65 or older $15. It's a beautiful long ride up, what a beautiful ride, be sure to bring your camera. The plexiglass in the gondola is scraped up from skis but you can still get a couple good shots, however the best are from the top. One side you see lake placid the other is the beautiful mountains and valley. Very picturesque and breathtaking. Great to bring a picnic lunch with picnic tables. Absolutely a must visit. Very enjoyable day.

The "Hardy Trail II" segment on Strava.com is my favourite mountain bike trail anywhere. Beaver Brook Trail, aka Hardy Rd Trails is a great gem. Lots of people walk the trails too.

The Whiteface Visitors Bureau is conveniently located in Wilmington, New York. As many visitors many not get a strong cellular signal in this area, it is a good idea to stop by to review the literature of the area. Otherwise, you may miss out on experiencing some of what the area has to offer. The parking lot is located on the right side of the building. There is a gazebo that allows you to relax and view the West Branch of the Ausable River. There is a short trail that leads to the water. Look for the blue heron. People may be seen fishing on the other side. Brochures of the area are located outside and inside of the building. This is a very nice stop.
