Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Travel in TwoMalaysia299 contributionsRottnest Island is beautiful, calm and photogenic. Every one arrives to this island happy, joyful, relaxing and fun. Little did we know the island's dark history and sad stories. The lady in the museum told us the things happened in the past and the knowledge makes the island more meaningful to visit. November is the month for the breeding of bush flies. They just surround us and poke into our eyes, nostril and mouth for moisture. The quokkas are friendly and cute.Written 5 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Saraya P1 contributionOverall amazing day swam at several beaches and hired electric bikes so we could go all the way to the west end. However seeing the quokkas so close with human interaction made me constantly nervous. More needs to be done keeping people in line on bikes especially around dusk all the quokkas were out and I witnessed atleast twice quokkas nearly being ran over by teenage boys on bikes without a light going at ridiculous speeds through the dark in busy areas. It’s a matter of time before quokkas are killedWritten 12 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Tony MMedway, UK304 contributionsBreathtaking views, chilled out vibe and generally a great place to stop and picnic while you’re cycling around RottnessWritten 2 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - wombatdavidHobart, Australia2,816 contributionsI did one of the loop walks from the ferry docks and headed up the coast and then inland. The lakes are amazing and there are lots of interesting signs to read. I liked the parts where the path was just for walkers and no bikes.Written 17 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Andy FDevizes, UK1,394 contributionsWe were taken around what is left (quite a lot!) of this gun battery by a very knowledgeable and enthusiastic volunteer. It's quite a trek up and down the corridors and tunnels, but definitely worth it. Gave a very good idea of what life must have been like for the men who had to man these guns in wartime.Written 9 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Amanda NWestern Australia, Australia115 contributionsThe lighthouse was a great destination to walk to on Rottnest Island. The view was very nice and though we didn't go into the lighthouse itself, it looked very cool from the outside. The walk trails that got us there were beautiful and it was one of the highlights of our massive 20km walk that we did around the whole island. Our friend Sam was visiting from Canberra and it was No.1 on the list of things to do "in Perth".Written 29 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JillTampa, FL34 contributionsThis island is really cool to visit if you are anywhere near it during your travels! We rented bikes and ride around the island, stopping at all the beautiful beach spots. We also went skydiving while there. The quokkas are adorable and this is the only place in the world that you can see them.Written 23 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BartonbearsCoffs Harbour, Australia2,770 contributionsThis was definitely the scenic high point of our tour of Rottnest Island. The rugged limestone cliffs, sapphire blue bay, and eroded arch are very photogenic. A great spot to spend an hour or more.Written 20 October 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- YapwlSingapore, Singapore88 contributionsWe took the explorer hop-on hop-off bus and this is bus stop #11. It’s a short walk from bus stop to the lookout. There are 2 binoculars to view the rocks. Likely, The shorter one is focused on the spot where seals like to sunbathe. We arrived after 1pm and tides were rising and slowly covered up more of the rocks. Wonderful experience.Written 18 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
