What travellers are saying
- Rae69174 contributionsWow Wow Wow
Natures window is like nothing you will find anywhere else. You park in the carpark and walk down some stairs and then follow the trail down. There are rocks that you need to climb over to get there which can be a abit scary if you are afraid of height but it is well worth it.
We also did the 9km loop walk which was the hardest thing I have ever done. It took us about 3.5 hours to complete and involved climbing down rocks and then climbing up again and navigating a cliff face to keep going where one wrong step and you fall into the water. If you do this walk make sure you takes lots of water and dont get dehydrated. But in saying that it is well worth it.

Must see place when visiting WA. Breath taking views. Amazingly beautiful. Distance is the only issue. But still worth it. Kids loved it.
Thanks

- BradHong Kong, China175,183 contributionsThere are a handful of interesting hikes you can attempt within Kalbarri National Park including the popular Loop and Z Bend Trails.
The Loop Trail is located near the iconic Nature's Window. This is a challenging 9km loop trail that takes a few hours but takes you through remarkable landscape along the rim of the Murchison River before descending down into the gorge where you walk several km along its shoreline and cliffs. During the spring, the trail was lined with beautiful flowers. We found kangaroos and lots of birdlife in the gorge as well.
The Z Bend trail is located at the carpark around 8 km south. There are a couple of trails here including a short and easy 1.2 km out-in-back walk to a nice viewpoint into the Murchison Gorge. There is a separate and longer trail down to the river that is around 2.6 km but it was closed during our visit due to recent rains and river level.
We really enjoyed the Loop Trail finding it a moderately challenging and overall quality hike if this is something you are looking to do in Kalbarri. Even during winter, best to start early as it still gets rather hot down in the gorge. The Z Bend Lookout trail is very easy and accessible for any and everyone, worth doing if you want to get out and walk about and take in nice viewpoints into the gorges of Kalbarri.Written 9 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - BradHong Kong, China175,183 contributionsThe Kalbarri Coast just south of the the town of Kalbarri is dotted with side road turnoffs leading to a series of really nice lookout points where you can see cliffs meeting the sea. Each has a small carpark area close to the respective viewpoints so you don't have to walk particularly far to enjoy the seascape views.
We very much enjoyed whale watching at the southern most stops including Natural Bridge, Island Rock and Shell House & Grandstand, spotting quite a few during our recent August late morning visit. Bring binoculars to assist in searching for the whale blows and breaching.
If you fancy a bit of hiking, there is an 8km long (Bigurda Trail) that starts at the Natural Bridge Lookout (south) and ends at the Eagles Gorge Lookout (north). It is 8km one-way so consider doing a small section and circling back to your vehicle if your time is limited.
Overall, we rather enjoyed spending a few hours checking out the various lookout points along the Kalbarri Coast as well as doing a short 2km walk up the Bigurda Trail before returning to our vehicle at Natural Bridge Lookout. We saw loads of whales, some feral goats, a few kangaroos, a blue tonged skink along with kestrels and other interesting birdlife.Written 11 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - BradHong Kong, China175,183 contributionsRed Bluff is one of a handful of stops you can make along the Kalbarri Coast south of the town of Kalbarri to see beautiful coastal cliffs and the sea. There is a pull off from the main road, leading to a parking area at Red Bluff.
At the carpark you will also find signage information for a few short walk opportunities including a lookout to the sea (700 metres return), the longer trail (1km return) to the main Red Bluff Lookout where you can see red bluffs meeting the blue sea as well as an additional little trail down to the beach (1 km return) situated near the Red Bluff Lookout.
Views are very nice at Red Bluff, as they are at several other of the stops along the coastline. This is one of the stops closest to the town centre so its fairly easy to make a quick drive out and have a look-see while staying in Kalbarri.Written 10 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BradHong Kong, China175,183 contributionsThese are two of the three lookout points along the National Park South Access Road turnoff on the Kalbarri Coast. There is a carpark area with signage showing the lookouts as well as the Bigurda Trail route north to Eagle Gorge.
Visitors can walk along a comfortable path to the two viewpoints where you can enjoy beautiful seascapes as well as the cliffs and beautiful land formations. We enjoyed seeing feral goats, kangaroos and interesting birdlife nearby as well as quite a few whales breaching out at see. Best to have binoculars with you if you want to do a bit of whale watching.
Overall, this is a very nice stop to make if driving along the Kalbarri Coast and wanting to take in some of the lookout points.Written 11 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Gene BPerth, Australia37 contributionsA nice little beach across from our accommodation. Kids can play in the sand and build sandcastles, adults can fish or watch the boats navigate the choppy channel from the ocean into the Murchison River. Close parking, public toilets a bit further away. Zuytdorp Memorial & Lookout also an easy walk away.Written 4 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- BradHong Kong, China175,183 contributionsLocated just across the street from The Pelican Cafe in Kalbarri is the Pelican Feeding Point. You'll find a half-circle of seating benches where around 8.45am each morning a volunteer will come by with a bucket of fish to feed wild Pelicans awaiting the designated feeding area.
The volunteers give around 10-15 minutes of information about the pelicans, their feeding and habitation activity and let the little ones feed the pelicans. Seems pelicans are not always around. On the morning we visited, we saw a couple arrive around 8.15am. They just hang around the area until the designated feeding time.
Note: There is a donation box if you want to contribute to the community volunteer pelican feeding programme.Written 24 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The Skywalk is excellent with good facilities, including a cafe, adjacent to it. I normally have problems with heights but, for some reason, I was nosy comfortable with the Skywalk. Visited Nature’s Window from where there are equally spectacular views of the gorge: good luck getting a photo without random people in it. Alcoa visited the Z-Bend lookout and river trail - a 1km each trail that becomes a bit of an adventure getting down into the gorge, but fun.Written 28 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
