Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This place is an awesome day out. There are many nature trails and a lodge. The lodge was great which was lucky because it was raining. It has a bird viewing area (we saw a large hawk) and there was a mushroom exhibit going. There are rocking chairs for relaxing.

What a unique concept tucked away in Plainville! A high-tech, elegant wine vending machine allows you to serve yourself a variety of wine of various sizes, including a sample so you can try out your choice prior to buying a whole bottle. They also serve small plates that are delicious! We enjoyed a white bean hummus served with soft, puffy pita chips. The cheese plate was excellent. We also tried a few of the Chef Choices including a pork disk and one with Beef Wellington and Strip Steak. The food server was great-attentive and friendly. We had 6 people and they do automatically add an 18% service charge. Definitely a place for a special occasion. Would recommend upstairs for larger groups.

I recently went to WT Brews when they were having a food truck event. This place is unseen from the street but has a great outside patio with a terrific view of the Seneca River with both picnic tables (some with umbrellas and some with tree shade) and chairs. Inside, I was totally surprised by the number of local brews that they had on tap - a broad selection. Not being familiar with the brews on tap I give the bartender 3 brews that I knew I liked. She was unfamiliar with 2 of the 3 so I described them to her. She was able to give 3 samples (one for each of my favorites) where I found one that would go with the food truck items I ordered.

Observation deck over Heron Lake at Sixty Road and wildlife blind at Smokey Hollow Road. Didn't try the trails (after initial snake siting) but saw folks riding bikes through the meadows. Spent all afternoon esp interested in red winged blackbirds and this marsh habitat is great for them. In addition saw a common tern (gull), belted king fisher, barn swallows. Wildlife blind is super with benches and perfect breeze overlooking marsh and meadows. Great opportunity to practice photography: macros of dragon flies, motion shots of birds. Look forward to return visits.

The small concert venue offers an attractive setting for local performers. The only disadvantage is limited parking availability.

Could not find a listing for the new restaurant-built with a new event room and clubhouse. Persimmons has a nice bar to enjoy a drink on this very nice (but challenging) golf course. The decor is rustic, including a large fireplace (not lit this warm September night). All the food is made on location. We started with to excellent and unique appetizers, we tried 5e deep fried squash appetizer, but my favorite was the shrimp and crab egg rolls. My niece had a burger and fries, which she liked. My wife and brother in law had the Chicken Milanese, with two huge breaded chicken breasts over lettuce. I had the Salmon Over salt potatoes and snap peas. The Salmon was cooked perfectly and the tangy marinade on the snap peas made a nice compliment. My sister in law ordered he scallops, which came with 4 large U-10 scallops. Most of the meals were good sized, enough to bring home leftovers. The best part was dessert, as we loved these homemade treats. The passion fruit cheesecake was creamy and delicious. The carrot cake came with a pecan syrup that perfectly augmented the meal. With 6 drinks, our bill came to $325 for 5 of us. Service was a little slow, but not terrible.

I came here for the first time just to check out their driving range. Nice staff and good equipment. It was a nice place to go for an afternoon! They also have a restaurant, mini golf, and ice cream shop.

Good bar, pub food ranges from OK to quite good. Order your wings extra crispy. Philly cheese steak is great. Service can be spotty. Busy post-golf stop in the summer. Look for trivia night, or bring a gang to watch an SU game.

We recently attended a banquet at the Fox Fire and found it to be adequate. The food and service were what you would expect at a buffet, average.

Now that they moved I've gone to try it out a couple times last yr. I love that they moved because they have a building to go inside if its raining. I just wish they had more Food/veggie stands that weren't so expensive. Last yr I ended up going down the road to Abbots to buy the same stuff they had at their table for cheaper.
