This museum is worth a visit for the incredible Diego Rivera mural alone. It also has impressive exhibits of African-American artists, centuries-old South American pottery and crafts, a sampling of Picassos and Impressionist stars (including a Van Gogh or two we had never seen), and other special exhibits.

Nice story of the great artists that flourished ion the Detroit area. Soul, rhythm and blues, and motown jazz are just the beginning in this awesome, but small, but mighty museum. Take a stroll back in time, and visit and pay homage to some great musicians from days gone by .

Park your car and walk the entire length of the Boardwalk and take in the Detroit river and views of Canada and its Red Flag. The walkway is long and mighty and plenty of photo opportunities along the way. You can walk, stroll, rent a scooter, and so much more. There are cruise boats coming in and out and the GM building is a must see and do.

Very easy to find free parking on the street after 12 noon. No sure what it would be like in the earlier hours when Market opens at 6 am. Very busy, very colorful, a lot of friendly outdoor vendors to choose from if you're looking for fresh flowers, clothing, or jewelry, etc. Inside the warehouses are fresh meat shops, fresh fruits and vegetables, etc. We weren't looking for anything in particular but will remember this district if needing to buy anything in these categories in bulk. Not a lot of cooked food to choose from, I think they'd benefit from a few food trucks but that would probably attract insects and need constant cleaning as people these days have little regard for cleaning up after themselves! We enjoyed the atmosphere, there were several street musicians and we stopped to listen to the outdoor musician at the busy Bert's Warehouse. That looked like a fun place to stop and enjoy drinks and a meal.

Amazing journey to the past, I personally have an affinity for older structures that carry significant history. This was the site of the first Model T and there are many horseless carriages in this museum to get your fill, especially if you are a car enthusiasts...we did the guided tour which takes approximately 2 hours, but it's very insightful...enjoy!!

The interior of the building should be seen by all who visit the city. It is one of the most incredible things you will see in the city.

Nice to find a clean, family friendly, park on an island in the river between Detroit and Canada. Enjoyed the conservatory and aquarium.

Beautiful stadium in the heart of Detroit !! Easy walk from the Hilton Garden Inn, and friendly people along the walk. The stadium was easy to buy tickets, buy souvenirs, and take in the game. I got an awesome Detroit Tigers baseball t shirt. This is an amazing AND easy ballpark to take in a game.

Eben though it wasn't football season, we took a stroll around the stadium, looked at the statues, and cant wait to see the Lions play in action. Awesome indoor stadium that helps with the cool and cold temperatures in the North.

Well it's not like Chicago, Boston or NYC, but still it's a nice area to explore.
We walked from the Riverwalk, all the way up to Comerica stadium.
Hart Plaza, GM center, Guardian bldg stand out among others and plenty of bars and restaurants around.

In the summer there are food trucks and yoga or dance classes held. There is an out door bar with a sand pit

Spent 3 hours there with my 12 year old and really enjoyed it except that the historical part was closed, they were doing loud construction and we couldn't hear some of the videos and the cool body drop assembly line feature wasn't working. Considering the museum is closed M-W, it should all be working. We at least snuck into the historical part because we wanted to know the history and why it was named Detroit. That part should be opened right away even if they are working on part of it, that it was completely closed was poor.

We saw Leanne Morgan there on Saturday night. Our tickets were downloaded to my iphone and there was some trouble getting them to show at the ticket kiosk so we were told to go "closer to the door" for a better connection. Not a big deal but we got there almost an hour before the show started so it wasn't that busy yet but I can imagine the line at the door was bad if that continued to be an issue. The theatre is beautifully restored and offers concession drinks. (It irritates me when patrons put their cups on the floor, spill and let it run down to the seats in front of them, just a pet peeve). Also patrons seem to deaf to the admonition not to record performances so ushers had to continually monitor the audience which was very distracting as they marched up and down the aisle. Otherwise, I'd recommend attending any performance there. Sound was good and our seats had unobstructed viewing since the two people in front of us decided to move to a couple of open seats LOL!
