What travellers are saying
- MarianneNaperville, IL1,030 contributionsSecond time visiting Willett. Last year we went on a tour with Jacob. Loved him! He told us about the eggsalad sandwich at The Bar at Willett, but we couldn’t get in the restaurant. This year I made reservations to dine there before our tour with Emma. The space has a small well-stocked bar and an exposed kitchen. McKenna took great care of us. The four of us shared a few plates, all elevated and delish. We had the panisse, the escargot with spinach rissoto topped with Gruyère, the chicken wings and the hiramasa. Of course, we had their famous eggsalad sandwich. Oh my Gawd! This eggsalad sandwich has its own Instagram and now I see why.
The bourbon tour is great. It’s a progressive tasting, which we love and we got to keep our glass. You might see one of the five cats milling about. I also love that they have a coffee bar in the building that has the restaurant and gift shop. I definitely recommend Willet. It’s one of my favorites!Written 18 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Barb GSlaughters, KY78 contributionsFelt a little pricey for the tour length and compared to other state parks.
The tour was really nice though. Kit was entertaining in her historical presentations, and Charlie was very knowledgeable. We learned a lot during our visit.Written 12 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Great shop. Bar tenders could be a bit more engaging and talk to you about different drinks, flights, etc… overall great time.Written 14 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - polotown89Louisville, KY13 contributionsIn an area that has one bourbon experience after another, try a change of pace.
I associated fruit wine with the cheap stuff I tried as a teenager until I was first introduced to the wines of McIntyre winery.
THIS WINE TASTES LIKE REAL FRUIT!
Fresh, ripe, local fruit, handled with skill and care. We're not talking about fruit flavored syrup. There are varying levels of sweetness, from dry to semi, to sweet. The sweet is well suited for dessert, use in a spritz, or a sangria addition. The dry and semi are perfect on their own, and TASTE LIKE REAL FRUIT. 😊
A tasting includes 6 samples of an extensive list of wines for about $8. A variety of local cheeses are available at a modest price. The owner and staff are friendly and helpful.
We had a great time and left with 15-20 bottles of fruit wine. Seriously, it was enlightening. These people know what they're doing and it's an experience I doubt you can find anywhere else.Written 24 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The "downtown" is delightful, we visited the Abby which is a ways out but worth the drive; next time we will stay in town.Written 6 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
